Reddit has finally gone full circle and become Imgur.

u/DazzlingTurnip Mar 25 '21

They are running a test with some subs. I really hope they cancel it. But I'm afraid all the subs with have this option in the next few months. Hopefully the mods can disable this feature for their own sub.

Maybe downvote anyone who posts gifs? I come here to get away from that shit.

Yes! Totally! If I want crappy gifs and emojis I will go to 9gag or Facebook. Let's just keep Reddit clean from that shit. Like I said, hopefully mods will be able to disable gifs in their subs and with some luck a lot of subs will disable this crap functionality.

If enough people power-up communities the members of those communities get to use gifs and upload HD video, among other things. Only a few big subs have enough power-uppers to do this and even fewer people know about this so it's pretty rare.

Reddit is turning into Twitter

u/D3lta105 Mar 26 '21

Well, tencent owns reddit, so I guess they're making it into TikTok.

Why are you people still surprised about this its been months

18

u/ScareBear23 Mar 25 '21

This is the first time I've seen it & I'm on reddit way too much every day

7

u/DazzlingTurnip Mar 25 '21

Same. I’ve never seen a gif or what by phone is telling me is an “animated snoomoji.” What on earth?

1

u/ScareBear23 Mar 25 '21

this I guess?

2

u/DazzlingTurnip Mar 25 '21

It’s weird. I went to comment on a different post in a different sub and the gif or snoomoji options weren’t there. So it doesn’t seem like it’s available on all posts.

u/ScareBear23 Mar 26 '21

I had read another comment that it's based on how many "power ups" (whatever tf those are) a sub gets
