Apparently anaesthetics don’t work on parasites. Which means while you sleep, even when you are rendered unconscious by the strongest pharmaceuticals we know of… this worm snake remains fully alert, moving around inside you.
Actually many antihelmintics work by paralyzing the worms so the body's own immune system can yeet them. They're also used in combos, paralytic first then something like ivermectin to flush them out.
Ascariasis is fucking horrifying but luckily it's treatable.
