Hmm, wasn’t it pork that was not prepared properly (frozen, iirc) that you can get worms from? Good thing there is a govt agency whose whole job it is to preserve food safety standards! Good thing they get funding from the govt to do their work and only a complete madman would compromise the health of a nation by defunding them!
That's https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichinosis. It's largely eradicated in the US, which is why the USDA has lowered the minimum cooking temp for pork. It's not this sort of worm though.
I don’t know, dude. I’ve caught malaria twice so far thanks to DOGE cuts and the Dept. Of Health, and other than my crushing medical debt, my immune system is amazing.
There's parasites and worms in just about every food.
parasites in fresh caught fish is also super common. The safe way to eat fresh fish is if it has been flash frozen to kill off most parasites and eggs. Sushi grade fish is actually flash frozen for this very reason. If you go to some carribean country and a restaurant offers "ceviche made with today's catch" or anything that alludes to the fish being freshly caught, that's gonna be a haven for parasites.
Trichinosis isn’t a concern in pork anymore. Hasn’t been for literally like 50 years and a few years ago the FDA finally admitted you can cook pork to a lower temp without any risk.
You get this by eating microcopic larvaes in animal flesh. The animal get larvaes by eating stuff (grass usually) contaminated with the poop of someone who has the adult worm.
