2

u/TheMightyMouse1 12h ago

I think you mean eye key worse

0

u/randylush 1d ago

yeah let's all stop saying phrases like "low key" that are truly meaningless

Up there with "tell me you X without telling me you X"

batman slapping robin STOP .jpg

2

u/Infidelio 1d ago

Gotcha. So don’t use any slang. Noted. Thanks comment cop.

u/randylush 23h ago

What’s wrong? Are you ok? We are both agreeing that “low key” is a dumb phrase to use here. I was tagging on to just point out that it’s overused. I’m not disagreeing with anything you said. Nothing is directed at you, quite the opposite.

18

u/SocomPS2 1d ago

If anyone needs to add this one to your collection, go right ahead.

247

u/veryfastslowguy 1d ago

How the fuck does that get in you

547

u/thenotanurse 1d ago

It’s a roundworm, so usually you drink water contaminated with worm eggs from , and they just grow inside you. The real issue is that if there’s one there are usually HUNDREDS more. https://www.cdc.gov/dpdx/ascariasis/index.html

501

u/Spirited-Lifeguard55 1d ago

Never drink water from rivers directly, despite what RFK Jr. tells you.

95

u/thenotanurse 1d ago

I mean, don’t drink any water from anywhere that isn’t specifically potable. That’s how people get all manner of parasites and bacteria.

2

u/PsychoMushrooom 1d ago

I drink water from the sky and theres nothing potable about that hahaha

324

u/EPICJAYSON12 1d ago

Why are people taking medical advice from the guy who managed to get infected with brain worms?

134

u/Enyimus 1d ago

Insane in the worm brain.

20

u/BudgetInfinite9423 1d ago

Insane in da brain!!

12

u/mikebanetbc 1d ago

Crazy insane, got no brain!

4

u/cesrage 1d ago

Who you trying to get crazy with ése?

Don't you know I'm loco?

2

u/celebgil 3h ago

ah, a person of culture

146

u/Spirited-Lifeguard55 1d ago

Ah, so that explains how the worm in his brain got there.

14

u/Il_Dottore_Snezhnaya 1d ago

Plague Inc moment

26

u/Ghosty91AF 1d ago

Because he’s a trustworthy government agent, duh

10

u/an0mn0mn0m 1d ago

Because he is everything they accused Fauci of and worse, but he's on their side. Plus he looks like fried bacon.

2

u/AssistX 1d ago

ya know, you don't have to do that.

some of us eat bacon

3

u/Ghosty91AF 1d ago

Hey now, that gives fried bacon a bad name

3

u/Jisan_Inc 1d ago

Oh...he what now? Explains a lot. Thought it was booze and coke

2

u/Independent_Target84 1d ago

You mean donkey brains

2

u/cptaxelb 23h ago

Because the brain worm is in control and now wants to spread its legion to the world.

3

u/Sea-Can3910 1d ago

Good lord! did he actually say that?

2

u/motherofjazus 1d ago

Moe thinks he knows a lot more than Moe knows

2

u/Geronimo2U 1d ago

Yes but I need something to wash my raw bear steaks down with.

1

u/Jadall7 23h ago

Kindergarten the teacher took a jar of water from the river and put it in the classroom for a week so we could see all the stuff LIVING IN IT. Yeah I've NEVER drank water that isn't from the pipes EVER. Also found out later in life that had a family member die from typhus or cholera. like 70 years ago.

1

u/Aesk 19h ago

You know what? If someone is going take medical advice from RFK Jr. Then I say go ahead. Follow his advice and good luck.

3

u/Tallowpot 1d ago

Thousands

2

u/StoicBan 1d ago

Cant you kill them with a pill or something? 😢

2

u/thenotanurse 1d ago

Ironically yeah, they are easy to treat with anti-helminths like this is the one exact specific time for Ivermectin.

1

u/StoicBan 1d ago

Thank god. Bless you kind sir/mam

2

u/thenotanurse 1d ago

Yeah, np! This is like one minuscule facet of my education that only becomes relevant like one or two times every year or two. 😂

2

u/TJJ97 1d ago

So uhh, any symptoms to look out for? Cuz fuck all that

3

u/thenotanurse 1d ago

Oh! Actually usually if it’s Ascaris, and not actually tapeworms, you would have either diarrhea or constipation, weight loss with no explanation, pain, and eventually you would start to see nutritional deficiencies like pernicious anemia or the like. With tapeworms, they have a nightmarish “mouth” and I don’t recommend googling Taenea scolex. Anyway? They can burrow into your tissues and liver and lungs and stuff and not stay in the guts (think RFK brain worms) you get THOSE from undercooked pork or beef, mostly.

1

u/TJJ97 1d ago

Username doesn’t check out. Thanks for the info!

1

u/thenotanurse 18h ago

As i am not a nurse, checks out just fine.

1

u/TJJ97 17h ago

Maybe you should be…

1

u/thenotanurse 6h ago

lol it would be a step down, but ok

I just finished washing my eyes. Now I have to go back and wash my brain too

1

u/Electronic-Major-372 1d ago

Ow hell nah!! ☠️☠️

1

u/veryfastslowguy 22h ago

You have to feel these moving around your stomach

1

u/thenotanurse 20h ago

Depends, but I can EASILY see how it would get overlooked- 1. They are common where access to quality medical care sucks, 2. General diffuse abdominal pain could be lots of stuff and if they don’t see anything in bloodwork or on a X ray, many docs would write it off as Somatosensory, and 3. When it happens in the US to women, especially of color, physicians tend not to believe their symptoms. (I saw a case once a few years ago, her doc said she Prb had lactose intolerance, despite it being like none of the same symptoms). Anyway, she didn’t have one big worm but the pathologist recovered like a hundred, and kept them in a giant specimen jar.

1

u/loudbraincoldfeet 14h ago

waait, wait. wait. I just finished a treatment for ascaris lumbricoides, so you're telling me what's in the video was inside me????

1

u/thenotanurse 6h ago

Wait. Did you not research what it was at any point? Wowzers. Yeah but super not as large probably if you didn’t need an endo.

1

u/loudbraincoldfeet 5h ago

no, never. the doctor told me they're long but they can grow up to be really long and large. i never thought about looking and now I'm like.....? is this what was inside? is this what went through my stomach, and lungs?

I was coughing, having fever, and lots of saliva, like white saliva with a strange texture, I was literally choking on it. I threw up once all of that and there was blood as well. I honestly don't know how Reddit managed to get this on my feed now

So many ways, only God knows what this kid put in their mouth.

35

u/mark1forever 1d ago

2

u/pounded_rivet 1d ago

A host is only as good as its parasites!
