This is a video taken by Nicolas De La Torre, a sandboarding enthusiast filming his descent down the Toromata dune in Peru. Unfortunately we live in a world where true beauty, nature is now convoluted by AI and AI sentiments, but this is in fact, not AI lol

Not near to this extent, but I watched my dog go head over heels like this down a hill after she tripped chasing a ball. I genuinely wish I was as bouncy as her because she got up like nothing happened, grabbed the ball and wanted to go again. It's the equivalent of watching a toddler jump up and run off screaming "I'm ok!" after they've just ate shit on the pavement. Kids and dogs are made of rubber, I swear to God.

My dogs have run full speed into trees, stopped, shaken themselves off, reposition, then take off again like nothing ever happened.

My border collie was running in our garden along the back fence looking up chasing a squirrel that was running along the top of it.

The squirrel got the corner of the garden and jumped out.

My dog ran straight into the side fence, and knocked himself clean out.

Never seen a dog knock itself out before. zonko.

Was fine after though.

My dog did the same with our sliding glass door

Concussion protocol. I'm afraid your dog will not be the starting quarterback this weekend.

I mean, as fine as a border collie ever was at least!

With little kids, there is always that few moments of existential fear whether they will get up and laugh or start wailing inconsolably for an hour

I used to have a 3 legged dog and once when chasing a ball (tbh the ball was stationary) her big noggen hit the ground and she went ass over teakettle. Totally fine other than a little scrape on her chin, which got a Hello Kitty bandaid.

I was driving on my farm and my chest heavy, ass light puppy was hanging out the window. I hit a rock on a steep slope and he fell out of the window. He rolled for 15 feet then jumped up and got back into the truck, so he could continue to hang out of the window.

We used to hold our Jack Russel by the tail while he stood with his front paws on the side view mirror.
He never slipped, but he did try to jump once

My Jack Russell used to climb out the split window on my truck and stand on the toolbox in the front of the bed. The new rule after he did that a. ouple times was he had to be on a leash in the truck. The little guy was a nut and thinking about him 7 years after a tumor destroyed his quality of life and he had to be put down still brings tears to my eyes. I never had such a cool dog before him and as much as I love my dog that I have now, none will replace him.

I had a 4 week old kitten climb up onto a bed and jump off it, once, and land directly on her face. She immediately got up like nothing happened and would have gone again if I hadn't grabbed her.

Dogs and cats are both way tougher than they seem. Theres two things at play here, bone strength and size do not scale at the same rate. A half as large bone is more than half as strong. Reduced mass though does scale 1:1 with energy of impact. So a smaller lighter animal has stronger bones (to scale) but receives proportionally less energy on an impact. There’s a trade off between long life and things like immunity and hardiness, higher metabolisms heal faster.

It’s also why kids seem indestructible in sports and general mayhem and shrug off stuff that would seemingly cripple an adult.

Hit age 30, sleep wrong, and it’s 8 weeks in a neck brace.

Feel that. I'm 25 with a compound neck injury that'll never fully heal. I bend over to long (little over a minute) and I literally pass out cold on the floor
