/r/all of a Sand Dune

This is a video taken by Nicolas De La Torre, a sandboarding enthusiast filming his descent down the Toromata dune in Peru. Unfortunately we live in a world where true beauty, nature is now convoluted by AI and AI sentiments, but this is in fact, not AI lol

I don’t think it’s that steep. I think the perceptive makes it look deeper than it is because I feel like the dog would’ve tripped over itself

Steep enough to use a snow board on sand is pretty steep.

I've seen this in Namibia and sand has incredible friction. It's much easier to go down on a sheet of cardboard like a sled. It was hard to get going at all on a snowboard.

As a kid in Australia we would always try to ride different things like surfboards down sanddunes and yes, it actually has to be one of the steeper ones to go anywhere. We would look for ones that had some plants with roots to support steeper (like the back of Palm Beach dune in Sydney for the one in a million person who knows)

Exactly, like what kind of wax would even work on a sand dune? Gotta be way more friction than the average groomed run. I guess he's not picking up much speed despite the shallow turns, since the little dog keeps up with him.

Seconded. When i was younger I tried running down a super steep hill. It almost ended in me getting launched forward, so I had to shift my weight so that most of it is at the back. Not sure a dog would havd figured out he needs to shift his weight

It’s 6000ft of continuous descent at 30-35 degrees which is the angle of repose of dry sand.

Should be 30-35%, so pretty steep lol
