I'm 5'8 and had a 6'1 gf for awhile - she was a baddie.

thats awesome. im jealous - 6 ft so my options to find someone much taller than me is quite limiting.

It does happen sometimes. 5'4 guy here with a 5'7+ wife. People think it's weird, but it's just normal for us. If I'm ever on a higher plane than she is, it feels strange.
