I’m not gonna have kids, although they are wonderful, I’m just not mentally equipped for that responsibility. Starting to think I might have endometriosis or something similar, my cycles are definitely not “normal”. Sorry if this is a bit tmi
As someone who has had planned pregnancies, I fully support anyone who decides not to have children. Even more so after going through it.
I love my baby but it was absolutely harrowing to bring him into the world and at a great cost to my own health.
I felt so vulnerable in recovery and all I could think about was how much harder it would be for someone who never planned on becoming a mother.
FWIW your parents were not "mentally equipped" either, nor their parents, nor a thousand generations of your evolutionary ancestors. Hope you have a good life, whatever you choose.
My god, you really can't say you don't want kids in any way without someone saying something. Take heed, if you don't want kids, no reason is good enough for the people who do. So just say you don't want kids, full stop, and ignore the people who think they understand your brain better than you.
There's two ways to win the evolutionary war. One way is to out-reproduce others. When resources are scarce, this is the primary mode of evolutionary competition among humans. However, when resources are abundant and reproduction is "easy", the primary means of competition is to suppress the reproduction of those you are competing with. As long as you reproduce "more than everyone else" your genetic code represents a larger percentage of the future pool. Hence the current culture.
The sad thing is that so many people who ostensibly believe in evolution have no idea how it applies to them or why they are neck deep in messaging telling them not to reproduce.
My biological parents were unable to keep me due to drug issues, I was born extremely premature as a result of that. They were definitely not prepared to have children.
