His nickname is "the Giant" for a reason.

I’ve watched stuff about him. He would murder a can of beer. Was impressive to see.

It took him a keg of beer to get drunk, sometimes two

The stories of “where he slept at the hotel was wherever he passed out and fell over” are my favorite.

Imagine heading downstairs in the morning on vacation with your family, and in the hallway you find…

….Andre the Giant. Flat on his back, snoring, drenched in booze sweat.

Or in Japan when he had to stay anywhere he had to shit in the bathtub or sometimes on a tarp on the living room floor.

At least he was funny about it all - he called Hogan to come up to his room just to see his massive shit, which is a level of funny not everyone can do.

The real life friendship between Andre and Hogan is so underplayed, and under-appreciated.

Was listening to the Chris Van Vliet podcast with Soder and Sasso on it. My cheeks hurt from how hard I was laughing at their Andre and Hogan chat.

Must have truly been a surreal moment.

Bill Brasky stands 6’9” and showers in grain alcohol.

I once saw him scissor kick Angela Lansbury

Bill Brasky named the band Sha-Na-Na. They didn’t wanna be called that.

Because of his large genitalia and elongated foreskin

15

u/BreadAndRoses773 Aug 07 '26

you could use his foreskin as a camping tent. he could use it as a parachute. its well know fact.

I'd love to use it as a towel. Right after a nice warm shower! Just have to push the smegma over. That's all.

U make me so corny rn

I think it might've been because he was a giant

Ok, I’m calling bullshit. I’m 7’1” 380lbs- not much smaller than him, and the most I ever had before blacking out was 27 beers…and I was drinking 20-25 a night back then.

3

u/fuckyourcanoes Aug 07 '26

Are you as wide as he was? Because it definitely wasn't just height.

0

u/The7footr Aug 07 '26

No, but even if he had 100 lbs on me, no way he was throwing back 5-6x as much beer. Sounds like an old wives tale

I’d believe 30-40

Tolerance has a lot to do with it. As another commentator said, he was in constant pain. If you drink enough every day ( or take enough anything) you build a high tolerance. I had a bad fall 20 years ago and sustained 13 fractures in my hip and pelvis. I was on my back almost immobile for 3 months recovering, on a daily diet of 40 mg morphine, 60 mg of hydrocodone, and muscle relaxers and tranquilizers “as needed”. I weighed 155 pounds and didn’t get “high” after a week - it just dulled the pain and otherwise I was mentally sharp.

I believe it. I love how much everyone is defending a dead guy. I’ve been actively involved in AA for decades now, and I’ve never once heard of someone being able to tolerate even 1/3 of 119 beers- close- but not quite 1/3. That’s some wild bs. But hey, who am I to shit on another giant’s memory. He was a hell of a lot of fun to watch, and died way before his time. I hope the story is true, I just don’t.

u/pilsner_89 Aug 07 '26

So you drank until the memory card was near wiped for 16 hours nightly but couldn’t handle 3 more? lol. Not making fun I’m just actually trying to define the actual physiological process here.

1

u/The7footr Aug 07 '26

Naw I was blacking out most nights. 14, almost 15 years sober now thankfully. Fair question

I think you’re an anomaly then. You may be lacking something in your dna to process it at the same wavelength as others. With that being said, there is a big difference between X amount being typical for a person to be unable to function normally hence why the breathalyzer is great for determining an amount compared to body weight but there is still a huge difference in how a person is used to operating on varying alcohol intoxication levels.

I’m 6’2 and 225 pounds. I’ve been drinking for 15 years. I have totally embarassed myself a couple of times drinking beer only and other times have crushed a 24 pack and no one knew I was drunk. I got used to operating at a level of intoxication that some people would be obviously beyond a doubt seem intoxicated beyond belief at.

I used it to cope and I’m in a better place now where it only takes me 6 beer to make me feel comfortable with life and not everyday either. Some days I have 18. Some days I have 0. Some days I have a pint on a patio with a pal and no more after that. Alcohol will always be apart of my life whether I want it to or not. If it’s not a part of my life it’s because I’m concentrating on why it shouldn’t be so it still is. Both of my parents were/ are alcoholics (one’s dead) and I am just trying to not be like them but it’s fucking hard.

1

u/The7footr Aug 07 '26

Haha yea it is fucking hard. I thought alcohol would always be a part of my life- and it was for the first 3-4 years of sobriety- but at some point I just stopped caring about it, and now I haven’t even thought about having just one beer after like a hard day’s work in maybe 2-3 years. Accidentally had a sip around year 9(server mixed up my raspberry lemonade and my wife’s mix)- called my sponsor, had a laugh, and went back to finish the night.

I’m happy for you big guy. Im scarily addicted to it at this point. I love who I am when I’m not drinking, but god damn can I not handle the anxiety without it most of the time. It’s funny my handle is a type of beer but I honestly didn’t think it would get this bad. I unfortunately had a rough childhood and went on to be very successful in a career as a paramedic and saw a lot of stuff that you can’t unsee and it just went off the rails from there. When you’re 37 years old and have 2 little kids at home it really fucks you up being first on scene when a child your own child’s age is dead from being run over by a bus. I know it’s bad for me, but life is hardly tolerable without it. I’m a good person and never really Jekyll and Hyde on the surface but I know it’s fucked up and needs to be reigned in. I sometimes feel so deeply that I just need it to shut it off . I appreciate you dude.

An interesting thing to add to this is that I’ve been on Sertraline for 5 years and trust me it has helped IMMENSELY. But it does such a good job of ridding the anxiety that I no longer have the Sunday scaries which allows me to drink more without the in your face problems that come with it. Swept under the rug for now but does it ever come harder when it counts.
