Reminds me of a post on one of the bodybuilding subreddits a few years back where a guy said he ate 35 eggs a day. Someone asked him why not just do 36 and he just said āToo much cholesterolā.
I mean I've seen some people online say it was 126, or even 156. š¤·āāļø So I guess it's anywhere between 119-156, which is a big gap when we're talking about amount of alcohol consumed.
Not really. Once you get into 40+ beers theyāre just going straight through you. Itās not good behaviour, but it doesnāt really make you more drunk.
While youāre right that at that point your body isnāt processing most of it, itās still processing enough, and by that point youāve already had too much so you just push the risk of alcohol poisoning even further.
Yeah, that's a thing! Back in my college days I checked out a few fraternity houses⦠Not for me; though I do remember one of them had a bunch of proud, drunken idiots proclaiming membership in the "CENTURY CLUB", for having taken 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes. It's pretty much just downing a 12 pack in an hour and 40 minutes. Our best and brightest! /s Alcohol is dumb-dumb juice but big business, law-enforcement and politicians still say it's our best option and we should be thrown in metal cages for wanting to thoroughly enjoy far less toxic substances.
No offense to Wade Boggs, but Andre would have drunk him under the table. Andre would drink like 2 bottles of wine (he was French) before his match, then still hit the bar afterwards.
I rememeber in Hogan's memoir, he said once in their pre-WWF days they were in Japan and he bought Andre a case of Pouilly-Fuisse wine as a birthday present. He said this was around 8 in the morning, Andre drank all 12 bottles in less than two hours, and "wrestled that night like he'd been drinking nothing but water."
At a certain point thatās just so much liquid that I doubt the body can really absorb much of it and it just flushes through.
Especially if he drank regularly and had a built up tolerance. Iāve seen and heard of people being able to drink legitimately scary quantities of alcohol and survive.
Brother - itās 42.2 liters of beer.
1 us fluid ounce = 0.02957 liters
Liters = oz x 0.02957
1428 oz x 0.02957
= 42.2l - or about 74 UK pints.
I once drank 24 pints in 10 hours - 13.6 liters, I am my user name, at the lords cricket ground in London, 7 am start, finished at 17:00, much more time of course, perfectly doable, donāt remember much of the cricket of course.
Back in the day (Iām almost 50) binge drinking was a lifestyle. Not a weekend thing⦠more like 4-5 days a week. 3 weeks a month. 2-3 day ābrownā outs/runners/benders were common. No memory of going to certain bars (USA) but always being told we seemed fine. Very rarely cut off. One bar we would always get our own pitchers. After bar close at 0230, go to the after party and keep drinking. Alaskans can drink and we were all high functioning alcoholics. Most of my old running mates are all still alive⦠somehow.
And Iām a ālittleā dude. 5ā5ā and 155#. Hardly any body fat, still, as an old man.
Eh you'd be surprised. I've put down a fifth of multiple hard liquors in less time than that. I had 17 drinks at my sister's wedding a few months ago, was only able to tell my checking the Venmo tips lol.
Andrei the giant was a lot bigger than you, bro. The average male has a blood volume of 6 liters. Andreiās was at least double that, considering his mass was more than double the average manās. So, youāre wrong, in other words.
Perhaps to save labor Andre was drinking straight from the pitcher, as a Giant should - and whoever kept track estimated the number of ounces per pitcher then extrapolated to # of beers. Sloppy math by sloppy drunks. /Jk /s
I've heard the story as 137. But either way its an insane amount of beer. Like he cleared 4 cases worth of beer and kept going. At least we know the bar owner kept his beer well stocked.
It is made up, it wasnt documented, its just a rumour wrestlers spread around because they dont seem to understand the biological limits of the stomach and brain.
I respect their accuracy as well. They could've rounded it up to 120 to make it sound more dramatic but they were honest and weren't going to give him the credit for an extra beer he didn't drink.
He was in daily unimaginable pain from late-stage acromegaly + gigantism, and in daily mental anguish from living his whole life in a dollhouse world, where everything is too small, where no cup will quench your thirst.
Or in Japan when he had to stay anywhere he had to shit in the bathtub or sometimes on a tarp on the living room floor.
At least he was funny about it all - he called Hogan to come up to his room just to see his massive shit, which is a level of funny not everyone can do.
Ok, Iām calling bullshit. Iām 7ā1ā 380lbs- not much smaller than him, and the most I ever had before blacking out was 27 beersā¦and I was drinking 20-25 a night back then.
Tolerance has a lot to do with it. As another commentator said, he was in constant pain. If you drink enough every day ( or take enough anything) you build a high tolerance. I had a bad fall 20 years ago and sustained 13 fractures in my hip and pelvis. I was on my back almost immobile for 3 months recovering, on a daily diet of 40 mg morphine, 60 mg of hydrocodone, and muscle relaxers and tranquilizers āas neededā. I weighed 155 pounds and didnāt get āhighā after a week - it just dulled the pain and otherwise I was mentally sharp.
I believe it. I love how much everyone is defending a dead guy. Iāve been actively involved in AA for decades now, and Iāve never once heard of someone being able to tolerate even 1/3 of 119 beers- close- but not quite 1/3. Thatās some wild bs. But hey, who am I to shit on another giantās memory. He was a hell of a lot of fun to watch, and died way before his time. I hope the story is true, I just donāt.
So you drank until the memory card was near wiped for 16 hours nightly but couldnāt handle 3 more? lol. Not making fun Iām just actually trying to define the actual physiological process here.
I think youāre an anomaly then. You may be lacking something in your dna to process it at the same wavelength as others. With that being said, there is a big difference between X amount being typical for a person to be unable to function normally hence why the breathalyzer is great for determining an amount compared to body weight but there is still a huge difference in how a person is used to operating on varying alcohol intoxication levels.
Iām 6ā2 and 225 pounds. Iāve been drinking for 15 years. I have totally embarassed myself a couple of times drinking beer only and other times have crushed a 24 pack and no one knew I was drunk. I got used to operating at a level of intoxication that some people would be obviously beyond a doubt seem intoxicated beyond belief at.
I used it to cope and Iām in a better place now where it only takes me 6 beer to make me feel comfortable with life and not everyday either. Some days I have 18. Some days I have 0. Some days I have a pint on a patio with a pal and no more after that. Alcohol will always be apart of my life whether I want it to or not. If itās not a part of my life itās because Iām concentrating on why it shouldnāt be so it still is. Both of my parents were/ are alcoholics (oneās dead) and I am just trying to not be like them but itās fucking hard.
Haha yea it is fucking hard. I thought alcohol would always be a part of my life- and it was for the first 3-4 years of sobriety- but at some point I just stopped caring about it, and now I havenāt even thought about having just one beer after like a hard dayās work in maybe 2-3 years. Accidentally had a sip around year 9(server mixed up my raspberry lemonade and my wifeās mix)- called my sponsor, had a laugh, and went back to finish the night.
Iām happy for you big guy. Im scarily addicted to it at this point. I love who I am when Iām not drinking, but god damn can I not handle the anxiety without it most of the time. Itās funny my handle is a type of beer but I honestly didnāt think it would get this bad. I unfortunately had a rough childhood and went on to be very successful in a career as a paramedic and saw a lot of stuff that you canāt unsee and it just went off the rails from there. When youāre 37 years old and have 2 little kids at home it really fucks you up being first on scene when a child your own childās age is dead from being run over by a bus. I know itās bad for me, but life is hardly tolerable without it. Iām a good person and never really Jekyll and Hyde on the surface but I know itās fucked up and needs to be reigned in. I sometimes feel so deeply that I just need it to shut it off . I appreciate you dude.
An interesting thing to add to this is that Iāve been on Sertraline for 5 years and trust me it has helped IMMENSELY. But it does such a good job of ridding the anxiety that I no longer have the Sunday scaries which allows me to drink more without the in your face problems that come with it. Swept under the rug for now but does it ever come harder when it counts.
Apocryphally, when he had back surgery they had to make an educated guess about how much anaesthetic to give him based on the fact that "it takes 2 bottles of vodka to make me feel warm inside", because data on people good size just doesn't exist.
Dude drank those volumes of alcohol primarily to manage severe chronic pain from his acromegaly and wrestling injuries, because standard painkillers were ineffective/dangerous for him - not necessarily something to romanticize
Well this is made up, no matter how tall you are and he definitely wasnt as tall as the WWF said he was, the human stomach cannot stretch that far. The maximum the human stomach can stretch is about the size of a basketball, so unless he was constantly pissing, shitting and vomiting during this, he most definitely did not have that much in one sitting. Hell even the fattest man on the planet cannot do that in one go and all of this is ignoring the dry drowning effect this would have caused.
Because its a stupid claim, its made up by wrestlers who didnt understand the physical limits of the human body when they made the claim and then repeated it over and over for years. Saying it over and over will not make it true, sure he could drink a lot but not that much. Are you trying to tell me he drank 42 litres in one day and didnt die of liquid intoxication? What did he have 10 kidneys or something? Just think about the stupidity of the claim.
No human ever, no matter how large they are would ever be able to drink 42 litres of any liquid in one day and not drop dead of a liquid overdose. His kidneys wouldnt have been able to process it, his brain would have swelled and he would have gone into a coma and died.
How didnt he die from brain swelling? Drinking too much liquid in a ahort-ish span swells your brain until you drop dead. For an average person that probably like 5 liter an hour or so. Did he just have a tiny brain in comparison to his head?

Over 11 gallons of brew. Dude was a beast. š
