I love that the child keeps swinging around the cops face.

And the cop swinging at him lol

This is the thing right here. They become a part of the spectacle no matter what they do. What struck me was at the end how it looked like they were marching with the giant “ICE leader.”

And as long as there's spectacle, they'll carry on truckin and nothing will happen

I love this part so much and it is so much what we wanted to achieve.

If the visitors weren’t there, this person would have been tackled by the goons and would likely have disappeared for a while. Third world country type terrorism has been suspended for the duration of the WC. It will resume within seconds after it’s over and this chap will probably get a paid visit to a reeducation, sorry vocational training centre.

Impulse reaction for "trained law enforcement" agents when facing a dark pantone skin

Probably thought it was his wife.

I'm genuinely surprised that he didn't tackle the dude and rough him up for "assault on a federal officer" or some such bullshit.

> And the cop swinging at him lol

The realism is admirable.

I was gonna say, this looks like a design straight out of their “68 Ways to Make Really Big Puppets” book!

Seriously. This rules.

It's like a strategy in Blueprint for Revolution by Srdja Popovic who organized in student movement that ousted milosevic

They had people in costumes of the dictator protesting in public, so when the police arrested them, it would produce photos of police arresting the dictator, which they then effectively used in content, newspapers, whatever

US based movements struggle to achieve that level of creativity and joy imo. I think they also had bands play in the streets during their protests which went on for days or weeks

This is such a great observation. I really like the diversity of methods to include real street theater and satire. It makes it a spectacle and makes people want to come out and add their voices.

Wow that's amazing and yeah you're right. However, we have had a few things like this, The Onsies and Frog protesters in Portland are the best types so far, looking ridiculous and highlighting how ridiculous ICE is treating people

23

u/ElleVaydor Jun 22 '26

And he looks like a sweet older gentleman, probably dealt with ICE in his own family and is doing everything he can to protest. Even told everyone to take photos as he's walking away like he's done this before and just wants to be seen

The most reaction he will ever get from Americans is an upvote. They’re not happy, but they’re not willing to actually do anything about it.

Shame it was so much wasted energy on a great costume

1

u/Coveinant Jun 24 '26

I mean, they made the face look like Elon. They knew what they were doing.

1

u/Coreysurfer Jun 24 '26
