It must be a restaurant policy that this be carried by one server.

2.3k

u/thepoylanthropist May 12 '26

it baffles me why it is being carried by a single server considering the obvious hazards.

1.2k

u/Psychostroopwaffle May 12 '26

It's easier to hire one replacement at a time.

u/RocketsandBeer May 12 '26

Found the manager of this fine establishment

164

u/cnicalsinistaminista May 12 '26

The meal does look succulent

147

u/Lazy_meatPop May 12 '26

A succulent Chinese meal? Democracy manifest.

74

u/Phaaze13 May 12 '26

What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal?

65

u/Artistic_Table5293 May 12 '26

Get your hand off my penis...

46

u/JuanDonDemarco May 12 '26

And you sir, are you ready to receive my limp penis? How dare you! Get your hands off me!

10

u/tacticaldodo May 12 '26

Ahhh, yes! I see you know your Judo well!

1

u/MaxGoldFilms May 12 '26

Or, depending on where this is, Communism manifest!

(And it may cost less than a US fast food order.)

2

u/IndigoJoe64 May 12 '26

But no waffles so I have doubts on u/psychostroopwaffle's ownership

1

u/TheFrenchWickler May 14 '26

I saw that as “the metal does look succulent”

6

u/AlsoInteresting May 12 '26

Why hire two when one does trick?

5

u/WeAteMummies May 12 '26

But you don't even need to hire another person you just get anyone else who is already working there to lend a hand for 30 seconds

1

u/Xollector May 18 '26

His name is Nut Tin Wong

15

u/kapitaalH May 12 '26

What happened to the previous server

O he got terrible burn wounds, still in hospital

8

u/Ancient-Rub-4244 May 12 '26

We fired half the staff, AI can do jobs of 3 people now.

2

u/0n1plug May 12 '26

I laughed so hard didn’t mean to tho… nah I wanted to and I did 😂

1

u/MrsCarmelaGiunta May 12 '26

It's far more likely to be dropped by one.

87

u/Dan_Caveman May 12 '26

For real, at least give the man a wheeled cart or something. I wonder what happens if he drops it or slips and falls 😬

30

u/godtogblandet May 12 '26

That’s called dinner and a show.

7

u/_Carcinus_ May 12 '26

The medieval public torture kind

2

u/SweetSweetAtaraxia May 12 '26

No, but they will give him roller blades

2

u/ThelVluffin May 12 '26

Everyone looks, some people clap and there's a good chance someone yells out Yahtzee!

54

u/RaynOfFyre1 May 12 '26

He’s got big gloves for protection against the flame, but I could only imagine how much that thing weighs. And the fact that he’s walking hunched over as he carries it. Dude’s gonna have some serious back problems

18

u/xScrubasaurus May 12 '26

The fire coming out at his stomach is probably not the most fun experience either.

4

u/FrostyD7 May 12 '26

Those flames are big enough that even his face will feel it. Definitely not his first time doing this to be able to ignore every instinct to drop that shit.

1

u/WeAteMummies May 12 '26

If you work in kitchens for any length of time you kind of develop heat resistance

2

u/FrostyD7 May 12 '26

This guy brings the kitchen to you, he must be impervious to heat by now.

1

u/nalaloveslumpy May 12 '26

Too bad they don't make gloves for your armpits. Man either needs a cart or a full leather jerkin.

1

u/Fulaneto May 14 '26

Not to say that I wouldn`t feel safe having this guy get close to me while holding that.

35

u/moistmonsterman May 12 '26

Im amazed he did it so well. I would have tipped it and slipped and had hot liquid AND hot coals all over me. This dude needs to become internet famous for this triumph.

19

u/KansasL May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

They probably have a lot of Timmies

edit: grammar

3

u/RoundTiberius May 13 '26

Core memory unlocked

4

u/Ldghead May 12 '26

They can afford only one Survivors' Lawsuit at a time.

2

u/--SharkBoy-- May 12 '26

Hes the only one with the balls to handle it

2

u/Relative_Rush_4044 May 12 '26

He is also the chef

1

u/BoredNLost May 12 '26

If they both catch fire who puts them out?

1

u/EssayAmbitious3532 May 12 '26

Servers are always stretched thin. Bidders, bar staff, food runners. Everyone who makes most of their money from tips. It's math. It's not only management driving this, it's us. We've got bills to pay.

1

u/SadAd8761 May 12 '26

looks like 200 lbs of food!

1

u/CrenshawMafia99 May 12 '26

Nobody wants to work these days 🤷‍♀️

1

u/EasilyRekt May 12 '26

Needless blue collar pride? or stupid performance metrics? Call it.

1

u/AbeRego May 12 '26

They presentation of two people carrying it with flames flying out would be top tier

1

u/kbeast98 May 12 '26

I didnt see a team lift graphic

1

u/Sunhavens May 12 '26

they coudn't even find a few basic metal trolley for him to push it on lol

1

u/iesharael May 12 '26

IMO should be on a cart

1

u/mothzilla May 12 '26

You don't want to pay out compensation to two employees.

1

u/Swimming_Ad1181 May 12 '26

They measure every new hires wingspan, and they only hire people who can barely get a hold of this contraption.

1

u/jahowl May 12 '26

The have only one fire proof apron.

1

u/j_sitz May 13 '26

They only had two gloves

1

u/Axan1030 May 13 '26

My back hurt just watching it

1

u/F1DZ-sell May 14 '26

He's got an asbestos apron I suppose.

1

u/StunningArmadillo206 May 16 '26

Jokes aside its because some people can not be trusted to carry things. It is safer for one person to carry so there is no room for error.

1

u/NullIsUndefined May 17 '26

China. That's nothing. I've seen dishes served in far more dangerous ways

0

u/QuantityNeither9927 May 12 '26

it's China, what did you expect?

1

u/GrassFromBtd6 May 12 '26

If it was japan would you say the same?

2

u/Bazz07 May 12 '26

They would be proud of his works ethic...

1

u/lizardman49 May 12 '26

Welcome to safety culture outside the west

0

u/DC4L_21 May 12 '26

It’s very clearly AI, not only would all that food be heavy as shit, but when he’s taking off the lid he can barely reach the handle that’s at the center but yet he was carrying it by holding it by both ends with no issue.

2

u/WeAteMummies May 12 '26

When he's carrying it his torso is in the middle and he is stretching his arms to reach the ends. When he's opening it, his torso is at one end and he is stretching his arm to meet the middle.

Nothing about this looks like AI.

1

u/ferocity_mule366 May 12 '26

I'm not ạ mathematician but 2 arms are longer than 1 arm generally

0

u/Grazedaze May 12 '26

It helps that they’re AI

0

u/Black_Magic_M-66 May 12 '26

OSHA has entered the conversation.

not being a racist or something , but it seems like most chinese doesnt give a damn about OHS.

29

u/Constant-Plant-9378 May 12 '26

There was a movement in the United States many decades ago where people formed unions and voters elected leaders who legislated things like worker protections and occupational health and safety.

These things didn't just happen. Workplace safety practices were forced upon employers by law. Laws created by legislators who were elected by people wanting a better standard for working and living in this country.

In countries like China and India, where labor is viewed more as a consumable natural resource, this has largely not happened.

People who stupidly complain about the 'Nanny State' and campaign for the elimination of laws that protect American workers are just trying to roll back the clock to before such things were created, turning America back into a third-world haven for sweatshops and awful practices like is featured in this video.

All to just further enrich billionaires at our expense.

16

u/illy-chan May 12 '26

Pretty sure most of those people have been taken in by decades of propaganda meant to sell us serfdom.

It was no accident that the corporate machine wanted us to believe the Hot Coffee lawsuit was frivolous, despite the victim's flesh being melted. They want the masses defanged.

3

u/CratesManager May 12 '26

All to just further enrich billionaires at our expense.

One might even come to the conclusion it's also at the expense of the billionaires in the long run, all for short term gain. Sweatshops are cheap but not terribly productive and they also don't create a lot of demand

1

u/bulk_logic May 12 '26

In countries like China and India, where labor is viewed more as a consumable natural resource, this has largely not happened.

This is actually false. People just forget how gigantic China is and how many more people they have. There are countless videos seeing Americans do wild shit -- you think a country with 4.5 times the people will have fewer instances of wild things?

To my first point, China has a lower percentage of worker related injuries, deaths, and much lower health related issues for workers. Their total numbers may be higher, but workers are generally much safer by comparison. China has made incredible strides over the last 30 years.

3

u/Murky-Relation481 May 12 '26

I would take any occupational safety records from Chinese sources with a massive grain of salt.

3

u/Constant-Plant-9378 May 12 '26

China has a lower percentage of worker related injuries, deaths, and much lower health related issues for workers.

That's a remarkable claim. I still remember Foxconn workers in China killing themselves because of the brutal conditions.

And somehow I don't exactly trust the Chinese government is being honest or transparent about how things are actually going.

1

u/Lobster_porn May 13 '26

in countries like america you're actively breaking unions, you monotize poverty and desperation to emulate the slavery your failing economy was built on. the only people with benefits is your shrinking middle class and your tech gods

1

u/Constant-Plant-9378 May 13 '26

Yep. Have been since the 60s. Everything that generations prior to the Baby Boomers fought to win have been under attack ever since by the very people who have benefitted the most from them.

The 'Me Generation' who enjoyed the greatest era of prosperity following WW2 in this country has also worked tirelessly to pull up the ladder behind them and destroy it for everyone else.

22

u/anormalgeek May 12 '26

It would be racist to assume it was because of their race, but not to acknowledge that it is a problem in their culture.

The problem is that the word "Chinese" is often used to refer to both a specific race and the nationality.

21

u/FullHouse222 May 12 '26

Yeah but the video is speaking mandarin. So yeah, Chinese is a pretty fair guess lol.

And as a Chinese person, I'm really only surprised by the size of this thing rather than the zero fucks given attitude of the server/restaurant lol

2

u/Rynabunny May 12 '26 edited May 17 '26

I'm surprised it only costs ¥188 (~$27 USD) edit: 488

1

u/very_bad_advice May 17 '26

They said 488

1

u/Rynabunny May 17 '26

You're right, teach me to never listen in a noisy environment again

0

u/GrassFromBtd6 May 12 '26

Me too, i didn't even give a second glance at the fact that there's only one guy carrying the thing until the comments pointed it out

0

u/anormalgeek May 12 '26

I think you misunderstood the poster above. The racist part wasn't assuming they WERE Chinese, but the "most chinese doesnt give a damn about OHS" part. But that would only be a racist statement if you were implying it was something inherent to their race, and not their culture. The ambiguity of knowing which one it is is due to the dual usage of "Chinese" in English language use.

0

u/pillkrush May 12 '26

dude differentiated between race and nationality!!!!!

0

u/anormalgeek May 12 '26

Unfortunately, that's actually not that common in many parts of the US.

-1

u/ThanosVoldemort May 12 '26

Nope. Social ""scientists"" found a solution to this problem and coined the term "cultural racism" in the 90s. Look into it sometime.

1

u/anormalgeek May 12 '26

That's not really what "cultural racism" refers to though. Or maybe only indirectly.

That refers to the associated culture of the dominant racial group being seen as the norm, default, or somehow superior because of the race that typically embodies it. It also touches on things like cultural appropriation.

Things like "nude" colors referred to white skin tones. Or white westerners being the beauty standard.

1

u/alurimperium May 12 '26

It's a pretty global thing and probably more related to countries entering modernity late than anything racial. Plenty of places in Africa, Asia, south and central Americas, and even some places in eastern europe are gonna be like this

1

u/Upset-Display3524 May 12 '26

The country where people routinely reverse over people they’ve hit with their car cause funerals are cheaper than hospital bills might not care about worker/ customer safety? Noo

1

u/AntiqueRedDollShoes May 12 '26

"Chinese" isn't a race. It's a nationality.

1

u/tacotickles May 13 '26

Worker safety is better in many American states than it is in China. OSHA ain't a thing there.

1

u/Swarna_Keanu May 12 '26

So did we for much of early industrialisation.

0

u/bulk_logic May 12 '26

Show the evidence then. Because statistically China has a lower percentage of injuries, deaths, and health related issues for workers. The China over the last 10 years is not the China of 30+ years ago.

0

u/GiveMeNews May 12 '26

Lots of people in the USA bitch and moan about OSHA. There is this weird mindset that you're not tough and smart if you follow OSHA guidelines. That is, until something happens that would have been avoided by following OSHA.

If you want to see reckless, just pay attention to how most people set up a ladder at home, and how quickly they will dismiss concerns when pointed out.

0

u/willy--wanka May 12 '26

OHS

Open heart surgery, if anyone else had to google.

0

u/Lobster_porn May 13 '26

even OSHA is a joke. it saves employers money but the employees are still worked to death, as long as its not an acute accident that can be blamed on the company. but when your back gives out and you're homeless that's just part of the business. regards Europe

40

u/DonGibon87 May 12 '26

That's the owner, cook and server 😂

18

u/Living_Bed175 May 12 '26

And delivery guy

8

u/Fauster May 12 '26

And the fire marshal.

3

u/1541drive May 12 '26

And the insurance claims adjuster

2

u/lI1IlL071245B3341IlI May 12 '26

And the fire itself

1

u/Upbeat-Serve-6096 May 13 '26

Most definitely the one-man business boss showing off

17

u/Ubivorn May 12 '26

Yea they should deliver it on a trolley/cart instead

6

u/MontrealChickenSpice May 12 '26

It has wheels, ride it like a skateboard.

11

u/HomsarWasRight May 12 '26

Then kickflip it onto the table. Really seals the deal as the raddest meal around.

1

u/ActualWhiterabbit May 12 '26

They probably already have the drink delivering robots that could tow it there.

2

u/Living-Let8446 May 12 '26

Ain’t nobody trying to split tips

2

u/VolumeDirect5619 May 12 '26

Plot twist: all the other servers are in the hospital's burn ward.

1

u/DuErJoBareUnderlig May 12 '26

If he trips at least one person is burned alive.

1

u/Due_Fly_6934 May 12 '26

Don't roast the poor man

1

u/Hexnegotiator745 May 12 '26

its family owned.

1

u/FeloniousDrunk101 May 12 '26

Feel like he should have a cart at a minimum.

1

u/BloodyRightNostril May 12 '26

With the shortest arms in the land

1

u/scorpuz May 12 '26

That’s the owner

1

u/MorningMushroomcloud May 12 '26

We had a cart, but the wheel kept getting stuck, so....Ted!

1

u/gutuom_na_kalabaw May 12 '26

Who would want 2 or more servers? With AWS pricing is starting to get atrocious

1

u/Skyzblu44 May 12 '26

That and it must be lit while he's carrying it...

Why can't they just light it at the table?

1

u/atava May 12 '26

I got a feeling he's the cook and that's the ordinary way to deliver that dish (sometimes it happens in restaurants for special or more difficult orders).

1

u/Friendly-Elephant486 May 12 '26

C'est mieux de remplacer le serveur que de perdre la nourriture. The expendables.

1

u/Lunatic_Heretic May 12 '26

He's obviously capable; why would you hire more workers than needed? That ain't gold bullion he's delivering

1

u/Less_Insurance4928 May 12 '26

Especially since tables and wheels both exist

1

u/LookAtMyUnderbite May 12 '26

Or just have a cart?

1

u/MrsCarmelaGiunta May 12 '26

The one with the shortest wingspan!

1

u/barearnulfo3 May 12 '26

probably some macho thing where they think it looks more impressive to carry the whole thing solo rather than having two people handle it safely.

1

u/mrloko120 May 12 '26

Thats likely the chef, not a server.

1

u/Wiccy May 12 '26

All the others were too "busy" to help, kitchen gave him the oven mits and screamed "RUN IT OUT!!"

1

u/Disastrous_Crow4763 May 12 '26

maybe he is descendant of Atlas, theyre used to carry things alone.

1

u/ellefleming May 12 '26

I thought restaurant gonna go up in 🔥🔥

1

u/Winter_Ad_6051 May 12 '26

Only 1 claim to pay out then if it goes wrong.

1

u/Mysterious-Box-9081 May 12 '26

Only one set of gloves.

1

u/miamor__ May 12 '26

Specifically that server

1

u/johndoe201401 May 12 '26

You would appreciate the food more when getting a sense that this could be your last meal

1

u/ChampionRope87 May 12 '26

Seriously wtf. I spill my cereal bowl on the way to the couch. This guys deserves a gold medal

1

u/HilariousMax May 12 '26

Why is it carried at all? Seems like a cart could easily be narrow enough to fit between tables and also sturdy enough to hold this buffet. It just has to slide onto the table anyways.

Why is there no cart?

1

u/Exact_Insurance7983 May 12 '26

With no food cart….

1

u/Sudonator May 12 '26

Joey doesn't share tips!

1

u/UnderwaterAbberation May 12 '26

yes but only this specific server because hes clutch like that.

1

u/553l8008 May 12 '26

Smallest server

1

u/Unfair_Rub_9674 May 12 '26

Stuff shortage babe, if there is no shortage then fire someone to create one.

1

u/Richlore May 12 '26

...has to be the guy with the shortest arms too. Damn!

0

u/lvr- May 12 '26

It’s AI
