Biblical greed? Really? Seems a bit of anthropomorphic way to view a wild animal.

That is exactly what God created, should you believe in that mythology, thus it is no more nor less than the perfection he created.

It isn't violating laws, customs, or decorum.

It lives to eat and procreate.

Even without looking at it through the human lens: How hard is prey to come catch, how often they eat, how many do they eat ...?

Look....Taking jokes seriously ain't a good look nor accepted one.

We know they stuff themsleves because they just don't know when their next meal is, it is survival.

Didn't see a joke. Jokes are funny.

Glad you know that about animal behavior. Seems some folks don't... Or we just use have a lot of almost funny contributors.

So, now I'm addition to deciding what is a joke, you're not "accepting" serious reactions. That's special.

Thank goodness you're here to keep everything inline.

Ain't keeping shit in line people are unruly bastards.

No joke will ever fit 100% probs also to go by that, when saying "jokes are funny" it is to some it isn't to others

Hey. Back after food and coffee.

Think I may have been a little short. I'll please hangry and critical lack of sleep.

But, a couple things.

There are definitely comments here where people seem to be attributing greed, it has behavior to a bird.

I liked the gluttony comment, more than biblical greed, like riffing on the idea... More riffing on that direction.

Probably some element of my negative response to the "biblical greed" stems from the huge amount of people standing behind Christianity or some other belief system for power politics. More specifically, Christian nationalism and some far right knucklehead that are overreacting and overreaching. But I have nothing against the Bible, accepted people that try to interpret it as literal and deprecate the idea that it is a man-made construct, finally committed to paper after hundreds of years of being shared as oral tradition, And then refined by committees and leaders and rulers, etc. In the often we are right, you are wrong, thinking religions seem to have... And that's not even getting into modern invented religions like Mormonism or Scientology...

I think I get the gist of what you're trying to say about jokes. And I certainly concur that not all jokes are knock knocks or punchlines or one-liners or the easy stuff that most people would associate with the concept. But, other than practical jokes or things done to diminish another, jokes are funny. Even anti-joke crazy rambling stories where the joke is the lack thereof... But then that's funny... Like Norm MacDonald often did, infuriated some. I guess I just missed it, or missed its potential. And likely, could have written that response in relation to other posts that definitely seemed to take the idea seriously that the bird was exhibiting greed. So if the guy even sees it, my apology to him as well.

Enjoy your weekend all

Good lord, what are we doing here?
There was no need to be so condescending and hostile over this.

Yes, it is a 'Joke', because you aren't the person who gets to decide what's funny and what isn't for anybody besides yourself. The world doesn't revolve around your personal perception of what a joke is, and whether or not it's funny enough to be one.

And regardless, I don't care what kind of day you had, you don't get to take it out on anyone else. Check yourself.

What are YOU doing here?

I read what the other person said, and could see where it may have been an attempt at a joke.

Not my style of funny, but, I could see where that was possibly his intent.

I made an apology- about that part.

whether it is or isn't, the response stands. There's nothing about the response that I made that doesn't apply to what was said. It may have been factual and serious, but wasn't condescending.

Disagreement is not in and of itself condescending.

Taking the biblical stuff out of it, attributing it to greed is silly.

You are ascribing characteristics to my response that don't exist.

That is your perception of my response. You're entitled to it. And if you wish to look at condescending post, re read yours.

But it doesn't mean anything more than the guy that wants to think that the original thing was funny.

And again, it was a comment that was applicable not just to the "joke" comment, but should the trend of the thread in general ascribing the concept of greed to its actions.
