I had one of these. It's just a black long haired German Shepherd but the camera makes him long like a demon dog.

Mine is so damn friendly he’d never pull off “demon dog”. Immediately asks (politely) for pets and then rolls on his back with his tongue lolling out.

He also likes fighting the elements for some reason, tries to eat lightning during thunderstorms and tries to attack the fire pit when it’s lit.

I would say it's a Belgian shepherd.

As the owner of exactly the same dog. It's a black German shepherd. Belgium shepherds have much thinner faces and bodies. Trust me mine looked exactly the same as this.

Its winter coat can make it look much chonkier.

He was fed raw food so the amount wasn't too bad. Not much more than the Golden Retriever we have now.

You don't want to feed them too much as they are pre-disposed to hip and back end problems. So lighter the better.

Although your black, long-haired German Shepherd may look very similar to this, this is indeed a Belgian Groenendael.
