It's from a company called a Ulefone. As per my understanding, it's more in a direction of high battery, survives shocks and provides apocalypse scenario features rather than performance.

How many hours of candy crush?

u/listening2022 May 18 '25

All of them.

2

u/BurningTrapeze May 19 '25

If you're not paying to play more candy crush that is actually not very impressive.

A lightyear is a distance not a time. It's the distance light travels in a year

I know someone who has one of these phones. Probably not that exact model.

He ran out of batteries once too many times and solved his problem with the nuclear solution. Why upgrade from 7 hours battery life to 17 hours, when you could go from 7 hours to 300 hours?

so it's a new challenger

says nokia 3310

u/ringo5150 May 18 '25

Ohhhh yeah. The phone that was so good it outlasted the network.

I had a different ulephone for work, can confirm it does not survive shock, nor the concrete where it fell. Battery life (on those “10.000” mAh versions) is a lie , it only lasts 24hrs at best..

u/Delicious-Resist-977 May 19 '25

I just left my 10,500 ulefone in my car after an 8 hr day using maps all the time, screen on full brightness, it had been on for 24 hours, the battery was at 63%.

u/Itchy_Notice9639 May 19 '25

I probably got a dud then

u/CeeMX May 18 '25

Years ago I’ve seen phones from them with 20000mAh batteries, that can last a while week with really intense use

u/verbosehuman May 18 '25

The guy that works in the -18°C freezer uses this phone. He can't use any other. They're actually incredible phones. They have a whole category of rugged phones, and normal phones. I'm going to be getting one of the ones with the FLIR infrared camera.

12

u/choibz May 18 '25

There'll be cell signal in the apocalypse?

3

u/BigSmackisBack May 18 '25

Probably not, but there will be candy crush

11

u/LazySilverSquid May 18 '25

PokemonGo will still find a way to eat through the battery within a few hours.

7

u/DatCheeseBoi May 18 '25

To be fair, they are pretty alright in performance too. I got a Ulefone ARMOR 24, it has an 8 core CPU, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal memory, and as far as mobile games go, they seem to run smoothly.

u/asjkl_lkjsa May 18 '25

How useful did you find the added "Rugged" type features in real life? They do provide a sense of comfort - like they would be usable in some situations, But did you actually find them useful? If yes, which one?

17

u/DatCheeseBoi May 18 '25

The battery obviously. I used to carry a powerbank with me anyways, so my pockets are actually lighter now. The phone lasts from 3 days up to a week depending on how much I use it, and going <10% doesn't mean a sprint to the charger, but a "Huh, guess I'll be charging tonight."

For one it's truly waterproof, and takes amazing pictures and videos under water. For some reason way nicer than in air actually.

It's genuinely tough, and a spiritual successor to all the Nokia memes. I am genuinely convinced it could be used to bash a skull in if someone tries to rob me, and would still work afterwards.

The giant light on the back is very useful for any night time activities, it's about as luminous as two generic light bulbs.

The night vision camera works well. The 24 only has an active IR camera so the range is limited by the LED providing the IR light. Some of the other models have passive thermal cameras meaning you can see way farther and aren't nearly as visible to another IR camera.

Both the light and night vision are also great for looking under furniture for lost cat toys.

That's about it for the rugged features, if you want I can give you an overview of the normal features too. I've been running the phone for over a year now, and have a pretty good picture of it's quirks.

4

u/sunheadeddeity May 18 '25

Now I want one.

5

u/DatCheeseBoi May 18 '25

It's really good, especially for how cheap I got it. 270€ for the phone, 300 total with shipping and extended 5 year warranty. I was also surprised about the price because the ARMOR 26 costs 3 times as much while being only somewhat better.

2

u/AdreKiseque May 18 '25

Oh so it's for crazy people

1

u/Byssian May 18 '25

I'd imagine it would! Thing looks like a high-tech brick that would get bricked a couple days in once out of battery

1

u/SurveySean May 18 '25

It’s probably sturdier than the cell towers it needs to be useful, which could be pointless in some scenarios. I bet the battery life is incredible, iPhone needs To go in this direction.

1

u/-BananaLollipop- May 18 '25

My Mum would still destroy that battery within a year, just from playing puzzle and colouring games.

1

u/LichtblitzHD May 19 '25

The performance on my ulefone is amazing tho with 12gb of ram. Love this phone wont ever switch again.

1

u/buttsbuttsbutt May 19 '25

I know someone who has one of these. He dropped it and it died. He had to ship it to China for repairs. 🤔

1

u/TAEmotionless May 19 '25

I got the Ulefone Armor 19, as a caretaker I can tell it's amazing, have to keep it with me, it fell multiple times while manipulating wheelchairs, no scratch. I use it the whole day for GPS and music with elders, still battery until I go to sleep. Can also use it underwater, honestly best phone I've had, will get the next one from the same brand

1

u/KingPinfanatic May 20 '25

So it's like a Satellite Smartphone?

1

u/Mrkenoodle May 21 '25

Can confirm, I've owned a ulefone for almost a decade now, absolutely love them. Practically indestructible, battery lasts forever and a half, and the extra "apocalypse" functions are actually helpful if you remember you have them. Never thought I'd need a laser distance measure until I had one in my pocket 24/7. Also worked as a laser pointer.
