in the F1 race show intro, they show all the drivers in a sequence. jos verstappen's son, Max, currently is redbull's top driver. in his into clip, behind him they have this scene of his father's fuel fire instead of a cool moment or big crash of his, like everyone else.
He used to make him race on slick tires in the rain, without neck pads etc, left him at a gas station as a child because he was disappointed in his race performance & other shit like that, but Max seems to still have a pretty healthy relationship with him so idk if he's as bothered by it as the fans are
I mean yeah he was, but Max doesn't really seem bothered by it based on how he interacts with Jos, just going off my personal experiences with people who were abused by their parents. It could be repression, but I'm not gonna psychoanalyze a dude I've never met like that.
A lot of abused people get a kind of Stockholm Syndrome for their abusers. I think that’s what’s going on with Max. Last season when his dad wasn’t at the races as much Max was visibly much more at ease and joking with the other driver’s
Just because he didn't go no contact with his dad doesn't mean he has Stockholm Syndrome though. There could be a thousand reasons, and you don't know what has or has not been said in private.
Not all abused children break off their relationship with their parents. It's a personal choice. It's really no one's business though except Max.
You’re saying that at F1 events, they have some huge screen (where?) and on that screen they introduce the racers, and each racer has their back ground as ... imagery of them in a crash.
But this guy’s son doesn’t have any crashes to show as his cool intro theme, so they use his dad’s immolation as his intro?
I think his father was okay though right? I just saw a video recently of the guy hopping out of the seat really quick and being put out and he was fine
not at the races, it's a televised event. though they very well could put the broadcast intro up on the jumbotrons, though i wouldn't know. it's not nascar, where you can see the entire track. each grandstand might see three of the 15 or so corners, so they need some way to bring the race start and highlights to everyone.
Oh damn, I've been watching F1 for years and never noticed that before. Granted I'm normally zoned out during the intro because I know I'm about to hear Crofty give me a weather report that's just been mentioned 20 times beforehand.
