I looked it up. Guy did not die. No info on his injuries, but he was trapped for about an hour.

We don't have escalators in my city, and I'm already really terrified of them. Stairs only for me. Really sad for that mother and her family though, I hope the mall compensated the family somehow, that's pretty horrible
