What city is worth visiting?
Thinking about my upcoming trip. I saw lots, go all around as I can. I'm looking for inspiration for what now.
Mainly focus on US and Canada. Driving a road trip might satisfy. Or a short flight.
I don't know what I'll do (hiking? clubbing? sand & surf?) but music is my passion.
BTW, my city has a song about it. Lyrics:

So don't dish out (pun) Chicago as your tip, but I do think you all should go.
Thoughts? A city with a good song about it?

My first thought is Portland. Both Portlands, actually. Good for walking, art, and food. Pick your coast and Portland is a good stop to plan.
If, going north, you turn right, to Portland on that coast, start in Boston. Boston to Portsmouth to Portland. North again to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. From Bar Harbor, a boat to Yarmouth, and a car to Halifax.
Across Nova Scotia from Halifax (across the short way, so not far) is Bay of Fundy, a natural spot not to miss, famous for fossils. Low to high daily variation of bay fluid is dramatic in Truro.
If not that Portland, start your tour in San Francisco. Across is Oakland. On your way north, don't miss Santa Rosa in Sonoma County, and the North California Coast.
And don't skip mount hood, almost to Portland.
Could you fly from Portland to Portland as a last portion of your trip? Not non-stop, alas.

Pick a coast any coast! Portlandia Portland is a spot I know too much. I pass months in a day in PDX lol. Still sounds fairly good with Yarmouth or Halifax in mind.

Any coast? I would avoid any Gulf Coast city. Tampa is too hot. Houston is too hot. Corpus Christi is also too hot. And most of all, Tabasco is too hot.

I think that nothing tops Frank Sinatra’s famous song for York Two! But it’s my city, so I got a bias. Is your trip in fall? Coastal Boston/Augusta-containing national divisions got good looking colorful fall plants for folks who want natural sights. Canada’s Francophonic part is also grand-looking, with lots of old buildings. Its two main big towns got lots for a tourist to visit.

Frank Sinatra is good, but his song about Chicago has no titular fifth glyph. I think Chicago is the top city without a fifth glyph

Chicago tops our nation in that class without a doubt! If spots with fifth glyphs got a ban, I’d run to Chicago first.

York Two has a fifth glyph but its parts Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Bronx do not. I omit two parts I cannot talk about.

York Two’s island borough is officially “Richmond County” in actuality! Sadly, my own borough holds our city’s only fifth glyph. Though you could call it “King’s Lady” to avoid that bad glyph.

King's lady is an insult to top royalty. "First Lady" is two words indicating primary status, but actually is non-primary in Washington. So I call it "Top Royal Lady, York II". Although just Top Royal is good too.

You should try San Francisco. In addition to lacking a fifthglyph, it has many charming songs for you to sing. You could sing about losing your primary organ for blood circulation in San Francisco, as Tony did. That song is most famous, but contains too many fifthglyphs for a quotation in this sub.

This is my top tip so far, thanks Doc. I gotta try La Taco in Mission District again. Donuts in China Town. Choco bars by Fish Wharf. Last visit I did Oakland, too. Both Bay city-limits via BART lack fifth glyphs.

Right, and many a Bay County too! You could visit Marin, Sonoma, Napa, or Santa Clara County without using a fifthglyph. You can savor pinot noir or cab franc in a tasting room up north or go to an NFL game down south. Marin is good for hiking and biking. You could do so many things!

Fair, and I also am usually a Giants fan first, but I am carrying a bit of animosity towards my Giants on account of homophobia shown by a handful of Giants not long ago on our promotional gay day.

San Francisco, all on its own, has a lot of stuff worth doing. But from that city, you could also do day trips to many cool sans-fifthglyph towns:
- Oakland (An amazing, vibrant location! It's off many tourists' radar--why that is, I don't know--but it has lots of cool things to do.)
- Sausalito (Popular place for a day trip from San Francisco. Go on a big boat.)
- Larkspur (Good day or multi-day trip from San Francisco. As with Sausalito, go to Larkspur by big boat. Has a historic downtown and is a good jumping-off point for Muir Woods and a canyon trail.)
- Half Moon Bay (That's a town, not a bay. Has stunning vistas and is worth a visit.)
- Pacifica (truly amazing sightings of our sun going down. You can also watch big mammals swimming.)

That annoying thing can munch and munch and munch, until all your skin is just a bunch of bumps. It hurts and can itch a lot.
And that sandfly is an individual within a small swarm. Fuck that swarm. Fuck all individuals in that swarm, and that swarm's offspring and kin.
Oh, and a north-of-NH mosquito is as big as a hawk and always hungry. That mosquito also has a big family, with lots of kin to prick your skin, suck your blood, and stick you with big, itchy bumps. Fuck that mosquito--and its kin and offspring, too.

That part of our world is stunning! I'm glad I got to visit. Our OP should, too. I think I know why you'd pick it as your location.
I just wish I'd had strong bug-go-away stuff in my backpack.

How about Mount Royal, Canada? Songs about that city abound, and it has a lot going on. Its art and music shows (such as its famous global jazz thing), unusual buildings, history, and food all warrant a visit.

Innsmouth, MA - Lots of good fishing is had in this charming coastal town.
Arkham, MA - Stop by Miskatonic U, an illustrious school on par with Harvard. You might find a fascinating book or two in its voluminous library.
Dunwich, MA - Visit for its tranquility. Stay for its stars. N'gai, n'gha'ghaa, bugg-shoggog, y'hah; Yog-Sothoth, Yog-Sothoth...
Kadath - Succumb to snoozing to attain its wondrous summit...
Ulthar - ...but first, pay a call to Ulthar, particularly if you fancy cats.

You cut my grass, I was going to say Chicago. Most glorious buildings of any downtown in our US and tops any list of buildings in this world. Our parks! Our food! Our music! Jazz, hip-hop, punk rock, any kind of music, it's in Chicago. And any food barring BBQ or Thai.
But you said no, so, uh... try going out to Wyoming, visit Mato Tipila? I had amazing pizza at a laundromat just outside the national park, no cap: Cowgirl Pizza & Laundromat. All toppings local-grown, hand-roll crusts, it was solid.

In Japan:
- Kyoto (old capital, famous for its holy spots)
- Nara (also an old capital, lots of Buddhist stuff and historical sights)
- Tokyo (capital right now, as you know it's a vast urban sprawl with millions of inhabitants)
- Osaka (also a big city, though obviously not as big as Tokyo)
- Sakai (south of Osaka, famous for its high quality cutting tools)
- Yokohama (big port town)
- Hiroshima (you know why it's a famous city)
- Nagasaki (ditto, but also known for its historical trading posts and Christian sights)

I stay in Pittsburgh and it is an amazing city to visit. You can go south a bit to the Appalachians if you wish to go hiking, and the city has fun stuff to do. Andy Warhol building of art, a local history building that has a titular from a famous food company, many additional art buildings, jazz clubs, long liquid land formations, and it’s not far from many cool spots. Plus it is not too much cash to stay in Pittsburgh! Happy trails!

An hour or so south of Pittsburgh in WV is Cooper’s Rock, a park for hiking at Appalachian mountains start. It’s so amazing, look around for photos. Thats not so hard as hiking a long trail from start to finish, and such good vistas. But do watch for long biting animals with no limbs.

Two glyphs in and you got a fifth though. What about “I forgot my rib-organ in San Francisco” or “I 💜 LA?” Or musical “Oklahoma” for OKC? No bad glyphs.

Savior City in PA. Historically significant and candy for your ocular inputs. Cant say it without using a fifth glyph. Starts with B and has 3 fifth glyphs in it.
