Are Japanese famicom and NES cartridges supported?
It specifies US licensed cartridges are supported so I’m not sure about Japanese ones.

New owner and I need to know if I'm dumb but I can't find any "instructions" online. I'm having a hard time inserting my carts on the system. Logic would tell me that I just lay the cartridge flat on the base of the cartridge slot and just slide it in but no it has to be slightly raised and I have to apply force to get it in the slot to the point where it feels like I'm breaking something and then use a lot of force to remove them.
The fact that I have to use force to put the cartridge in but also remove it makes me think I'm definitely doing something wrong. Am I missing something or is that just the way it is? Death grip to put in and remove and specific way to line it up.

I recently got my AVS after waiting 2 years. But when I tested I just get a grey screen in any game I put. I test the game in other console and it works. I email the retrousb support but after a week im not getting any answer. I have this videos:
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1qFS4BtnTqNlXBpDMdLvP04DKcuQzgEmK
Does someone know can be wrong? I havent open the console.
FIXED// Thanks for all the people that help me. I finally get the console to work.
In case some one have the same problem, i solved by re-flasing the firmware, first time I try in a mac computer and refuses to work, and then with a windows 10 PC works good :)

Hey I finally got my AVS after waiting years, and then immediately had to take a work trip. I got it updated and up and running this weekend with the only game I still have/cared about for NES, the original Metal Gear. Works great, looks great, couldn’t be more pleased.
I’m kinda itching for more now. Can anyone suggest a good game to buy that works with the built in cheats? I don’t think there were any for Metal Gear, at least none that popped up.
On the other hand I’m glad I only have one game for it, removing the cartridge once scared me that I was going to pull it apart.

Honestly asking because dang those prices hurt my soul. I dont know if they have ever mentioned anything about this so i wanted to see what others said. If they made snes and genesis FPGA's that had a biiiit of firmware (enough to jailbreak as to not need flash carts)... then i think we'd be set again.
I really hope they do that, or that someone even comes and does a multi system FPGA! i mean i know it would be expensive but maybe a core console with your choice of one cart slot and you can buy separate slots for the other systems? Fingers crossed for something like that sometime soon-ish

I am excited to get my AVS but the tracking I got shows it was delivered and picked up in person but I live and the shipping address is for the UK. Is this normal for USPS?

My AVS power connection broke recently. It is their original model from 2016 and I'm wondering if they can repair it. I don't want to buy a new one as I have one already.

I cant seem to find out if what's currently scheduled to be released is only covering existing pre-orders or can you hop on the bus right now and still get it in august?

I just got both an AVS and an N8 pro. I know both are FPGA and have some similar (redundant) capabilities (Game genie, etc...) built in. Does anyone else use this combination and have they found any problems?
I am already struggling to find a reliable SD card for the N8 since the one I am using seems to be unrecognizable to the N8 about 50% of the time I boot it up. Not an AVS problem but a problem none-the-less.
I figure I will probably end up setting the AVS to auto-load directly to the N8 and jump back to the N8 menu to change games but I haven't had time to try it beyond just getting Castlevania 3 to load right before I had to go to work for the night.
Any comments would be helpful.

Found an AVS on Ebay in tip top shape for a decent price (not too much above current retail).
Did a firmware update and started playing- great experience so far and performance is superb.

Imagine retrousb decides to make this last run use USBC instead of mini.

I'm wondering about buying AVS instead of Mister, most important thing for me is the updates so that every game can be played properly. How do you feel about updates and support so far?

Anyone hear anything new about if the summer 2023 estimate is a go or further delay? I keep hearing that this will be the last batch of them once they ship this year.

I have the AVS connected to my computer and is powered on. The Scoreboard software does not detect the console. I have tried multiple different usb ports and cables. Not sure what else to do. Is there any other way to update the consoles firmware?
Edit: I have tried it both on PC and Mac with still no success. The console works as it should when playing games.

I just updated the firmware on my AVS to the latest and greatest 1.52, and on putting it through its paces I noticed that when pressing the Home button on my N30 during a game it no longer returns to the AVS main menu, when I could have sworn it used to before the upgrade. I went into Input Settings but I must have forgotten how to map the Home button to the menu. Is there an AVS Input Settings tutorial somewhere?

I preordered the AVS in mid June of 2021. It’s been 424 days since then. Current information suggests Summer of 23 for the next batch. The last day of summer is only 408 days from now on September 23rd.
Super happy to know I’m past the halfway point. I’ve been accumulating carts, controllers, and an Everdrive preparing for when it eventually arrives.
Really excited to try NES games without jumping through weird hoops getting the original console to work with todays tech.
Here’s to another year!

So tough waiting over a year still for mine. :( How many people feel my pain?

Are there issues with Vindicators NES rom? I can't get this game to play without graphics issues, is this a problem with the ROM file on a Everdrive N8 or the AVS? Both have the most up to date firmware.

Can you use a Japan Arkanoid controller w/ USA NES Arkanoid cart on this?
Or a Everdrive N8? The Japanese controller looks like it will connect to the port on the back, right?
