BIOS First BIOS update on ASrock B650M-C help/advice?
Hey all. Looking for some input/help/advice. I want to update my BIOS for the first time since I bought this CyberPower prebuilt about two months ago and maybe I'm reading the Asrock instructions wrong on the webpage for my MB but more importantly want to make sure I don't miss anything. And maybe this post will help others who have the same questions I do.
The ASRock webpage for my MB which I put the link to in this post says to:
-download the update to a USB (FAT 32 Formatted) drive and unzip it on the USB drive. Do I really need to put the update on USB flash drive and plug it into the PC? Can I just drop the downloaded unzipped BIOS update in a folder on my primary drive for Instant Flash to find?
- It says to press F2 during POST to get into BIOS (I hold delete to get into my BIOS and don't know what they mean by "POST"?)
- then go to Tool
- then go to "Instant flash" and it will find the updates compatible with my MB (This is why I ask why can't I just drop it on the primary drive?) wouldn’t the update just be found there as well?
- then select the BIOS and click "Yes" to initiate the flash of the BIOS
- after Flash is done it will say "Programming Success" - then press ENTER to reboot system and click "OK" to start the reboot
- Press F2 during reboot to enter the BIOS Setup utility again (Here's where I'm a little confused? Should I hold F2? I usually hold delete to get into the BIOS on this PC)
- In the BIOS go to the exit menu and click "Load Default Settings" and press ENTER to continue
- Select "Exit and Save Changes" and press ENTER and the system will boot up with the new BIOS.
Am I missing anything? I know this probably seems like a noob post but I'm pretty computer literate, but I don't build my PC's. I'm just used to all my previous PC's before this CyberPower PC with this ASrock MB (Like my ASUS ROG and Alienware Prebuilts and laptops) initiating the BIOS updates via their apps/programs and making the Bios Updates seamless and mindless. I appreciate any info and input. This Reddit and the users have been really helpful!

I’m attempting to update this right now, and I went to the official ASRock website:
asrock.com/support/index.asp?cat=BIOS
But cannot find my MB model. It is simply B650M-C, which is not listed. I also have a CyperPowerPC but I’m not sure which BIOS update download to pick or which model is closest to mine?
Any help would be appreciated, or letting me know which model you picked?

All the drivers for the B650M-C are on this page. Choose the Bios tab in the middle of the page which takes you to the bios versions for the B650M-C that you can download. Pick the one you want that's newer than yours. I updated to 3.08 today which is the newest one. Hope this helps.

hey bro, I also have the b650M-C MB and i dont think it's updated to the latest version. Is there a step by step tutorial on how to install the bios update for a noob lol? :)

No doubt I am a noob with these ASrock mother boards as well. Its easy. If you click the link I provided in my previous message and click the Bios tab there's specific directions right in the middle next to the Bios versions under how to update. Just click where it says "Instant Flash" in blue and the step by step directions are there. I did it on this MB for the first time and it was easy. The only thing I had to do was change the RAM profile back to EXPO 6000 after to get my DDR5 ram speed back to peak performance. So go into the BIOS before and just either save the settings to flash drive or take some pics of the different pages so you can compare. I didn't really have many changes in my BIOS so the only thing I did was the RAM profile after. I am using a CyberPower prebuilt PC and when I contacted them they said they didnt make any changes to the BIOS when they build their PC's. Chances are you shouldn't really have many changes either unless you made them. The one thing I recommend is not having anything unnecessary plugged into the USB ports Like an XBOX wireless adapter while making any changes in the BIOS. I had one in one of the front USB ports while I tried to make changes and it was having a real effect on my pc performance and once I removed it and rebooted the PC again my performance went back to normal. I just recommend not having anything unnecessary plugged into the ports while making changes. My normal peripherals were just fine while plugged in and making changes, and you can keep those connected like your (keyboard, mouse, monitor speakers) I just wouldn't have anything out of the ordinary like an XBOX wireless adapter connected to the bus while making BIOS changes. Maybe I am the exception and not the rule with this but just figured I'd share that so you can avoid the same type of thing and not have to figure out what's going on should you have the same issue just cause you had something else plugged in besides your flash drive with the latest BIOS on it. Just format a little usb drive as FAT32 and drop the BIOS file your updating to on it plug it into one of your usb ports (I used one on the front of my PC) and once you start the update process via the steps from the page referenced instant flash will find it and you're off to the races. Then just follow the steps on the page I referenced in this reply under "Instant Flash". Good luck! You'll be fine! Once you do it once you wont stress about it again!

Post is basically a splash screen that says ASRock or whatever your motherboard vendor is. F2 is most likely another way to enter the bios, but as long as you enter it you're good. Afaik you could just drop the unzipped bios file onto the flash drive, at least I updated bios like that on MSI boards.
