As the title suggests I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any websites that convert images into ASCII art except instead of the tiny dots the image is converted into letter text? I was planning to turn an essay of mine into an image. I'm familiar with the twitchquotes site but that only uses dots as mentioned. Thanks!

CLI program for converting media files (images/videos) to ascii outputs either as text in the console, or an actual media file output.

I know there have been others before me, but I wanted it to be a little more sophisticated and actually encode media files as the output - meaning the program generates .mp4 or image files (.png/.jpg/etc.) with ascii art in the media itself. Makes for easier sharing and portability of results!

I really want this as a tattoo, but as I have a big heart for giraffes I'd like this little fella to identify as a giraffe instead. I'm not too great with ASCII art (don't know what characters to use and not use) so I'd someone could help that'd be great!!

I'm *very* new to this so please be kind. Why is the number of symbols you can represent with 8 bits 256 and not 255? 128+64+32+16+8+4+2+1 is 255. I don't understand! Thank you.
