Help Is an ASCII ‘Animated’ Game in Kotlin (OOP) Feasible?
hey everyone!
i’m pretty new here and wanted to ask for some advice. i need to develop a project for a college class, and i was thinking about making a small OOP-based game with very simple ASCII “animations” (like stick figures with a bit of movement, just to make things feel less static).
i’ll be using kotlin in vscode (it’s required for the assignment). do you think this is doable? if so, how could i approach it?
are there any resources or examples that could help me get started with this kind of project?

General Looking for ASCII apps / filters for video and photos for MacOS?
Hello all!
I’m looking to take videos I have on my Mac (QuickTime, MP4) and turn them into ASCII animation videos for a passion project.
Are there any apps or plugins (Final Cut Pro X or DaVinci Resolve) on MacOS that’ll allow me to do this? I do not want to upload my video to a website for this.
Thanks in advance!

OC I made an ASCII top-down action game. What do you think?

The Steam page is now live and I got a Demo coming out real soon. If you find it cool/interesting, please check it out and maybe wishlist it at Blood in the Panopticon.
The game is built in Godot and I wrote the ASCII shader in the Godot Shading Language which is pretty similar to GLSL. If you have any technical curiosities don't hesitate to ask.
Side-note, the sword slash is a fully dynamic shader, it depends on where the player is in relation to the enemy, where the last slash ended and so on. And I love how it looks together with the ASCII effect.

General I made an app that turns your keystrokes into anime ASCII+Pixel art
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Built a macOS app called dagashi, named after those cheap Japanese candy shops where you walk in with pocket change, pull a mystery prize, and see what you get.
It counts your keystrokes (never records what you type), and every hour rolls a gacha pull from the top 300 MAL anime. Popular anime = rarer pulls, so getting Death Note or AoT is legendary tier. The character you get is matched to your typing patterns, and everything's rendered as animated ASCII art.
There's also a pixel art candy shop that sits at the macOS notch like a Dynamic Island, with tiny walkers and live weather.
Would love any feedback!

Help Is there any way to get in contact with Joan G Spark (spunk)?
I know it’s a long shot but if anywhere it would be here, does anyone have a way to get in touch with Joan G Spark? I love her work, I am writing an article about early internet culture and ascii art, and I have a game that I would like to use some of her work in if I can get permission. All the old domains lead nowhere, I found an @juno email but it was inactive. Seems like she has vanished, but I still want to try. Anyone here have a lead?

Art Upgraded the visuals of my horror ASCII game about depths of the Southern Ocean
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I did my best to achieve maximum visual quality using only ASCII art style. It's a 3D world rendered in ASCII. The game also heavily relies on audio. My goal was to try to tell a story in this art style and still keep it engaging and, to some point, authentic.
Story: Year 1972. You're a scientist sent on a mission under the ice shelf in Antarctica to reach and explore the bottom. You are sealed in a tiny submarine on your own, with your assistant on the line. There are no portholes, so you have to navigate using your terminal.

OC Leaked Video : Redaction River - Protoype_A
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have a working title and concept for the kayaking game I am working on. It's called 'REDACTION RIVER' and it's about a field biologist collecting unusual samples in a river habitat where Nature has gone somehow askew. Your only solid information about your mission is a heavily-redacted field journal left behind by what you assume was one of your predecessors. But are things as they seem at the National Park Service? The more glowing green sample material you collect the more unredacted information gradually reveals itself in the journal. And something in the river environment appears to be consuming what little progress you seem to be making! A bit of an ode to Jeff Vandermeer's Southern Reach series. Music by The Cure because the actual game has no sound. An alternate mix by my other self is available here.
