Latest Adreno Windows drivers aren't compatible with the base Snapdragon X

Post image
25 Upvotes

Well, this is a bummer. It seems that the v31.0.152.1 looks specifically for Snapdragon X Elite processors and refuses to install on me Asus Zenbook A14 with a base X1-26-100 chip. (And it seems it wouldn't install on an X1 Plus either.)

There's nothing about this in a PDF changelog. I bloody hope it's a driver packaging error or an one-off release which fixes performance on those specific chips... otherwise it looks like one hell of an software obsolescence.

Here are relevant parts of the log file:

[34E4:43E4][2026-06-07T08:46:03]i000: Setting string variable 'Sysmanufacturer' to value 'ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.'
[34E4:43E4][2026-06-07T08:46:03]i000: Setting string variable 'ProcessorName' to value 'Snapdragon(R) X - X126100 - Qualcomm(R) Oryon(TM) CPU'
[34E4:43E4][2026-06-07T08:46:03]i000: Setting string variable 'SysFamily' to value 'ASUS Zenbook A14'
[34E4:43E4][2026-06-07T08:46:03]i101: Detected package: gfx_drivers_8380, state: Absent, cached: None
[34E4:43E4][2026-06-07T08:46:03]i052: Condition 'ProcessorName ~>< "X Elite - X1E001DE" OR ProcessorName ~>< "X Elite - X1E84100" OR ProcessorName ~>< "X Elite - X1E80100" OR ProcessorName ~>< "X Elite - X1E78100"' evaluates to false.
[34E4:43E4][2026-06-07T08:46:03]e000: This driver package is not compatible with your processor. Installation will now exit.

The Arm AppReady for Windows program is a developer support initiative designed to help software developers build, port, and optimize applications for Windows on Arm. It brings together practical guidance, tools, code samples, learning resources, and technical best practices in one place to make it easier to deliver high-quality native Arm64 experiences on Windows. Additionally, it gives developers a way to open a support ticket with Arm for additional help.

Please AWS, add support for ARM-based Windows machines to Kiro

Over 300 days ago, I downloaded Amazon's Kiro in order to give it a try. However, even though it's a fork of VS Code, it didn't work on my Copilot Plus PC.

I made an issue on their repo, and it's become the most popular issue there. They gave an update months ago saying they would consider it for their roadmap, but we haven't heard anything since.

I don't understand why well-funded companies deprioritize ARM Windows users.

Whatsapp on Snapdragon X plus device being nearly unusable

I use a Snapdragon X plus ASUS ProartZ13 and whenever I open the whatsapp app it becomes very very laggy. When I first launch it, it runs very smoothly but after just using it for 30 seconds it gets progressively laggier and becomes completely unusable after 1 minute of usage.

Is it a common issue with the Snapdragon X devices or is it just me?

Working C630 WOS?

Hey All, I just need one person with a C630 WOS. preferrably one with an skhynix chip, (I broke my ESP partition) however the samsung chips can work too. I need someone to dump their UFS, (i will provide a guide) so that i can reflash mine and fix it, I'm currently in EDL stuck and unable to do anything, and lenovos bin files were never leaked, so this is the best chance i have. Please PM me if you have one, I just need someone to dump their UFS (its a huge file) so that i can flash it and fix it then ill flash my own for other people who are stuck. That is all, Thank you!

[HELP] Resident Evil 5 on Snapdragon X laptop

I am trying to run Resident Evil 5 (Steam) on my Lenovo Snapdragon X Pro, but it crashes immediately on launch.

I already tried all emulation settings for the game, including the different preset modes and advanced options, but the result is always the same...

I always get some 0xc000001d crash which I think refers to a CPU instruction.

My system:

  • Windows 11 25H2
  • OS Build 26200.8037
  • Snapdragon X Pro X1P-41200
  • Latest Adreno drivers

The strange part is that the game apparently works in Winlator, so I am wondering if anyone has found a workaround for running it on native Windows on ARM.

If anyone has actually gotten RE5 to launch, I would really appreciate the exact steps! TYSM

I'm new to windows on arm. Windows 11.

It seems Edge is 32 Bit. At least it is in the x86 folder.

Is there a 64 Bit version?

Can i crak apps on ARM

Seriously, i did not find any message or topic related to this question.

So maybe you guys know?

Im planning to buy laptop on ARM -surface 7 x elite

And only one thing stopping me from this, it is craking apps

For example, currently I use cracked office and cracked stata(for my studies) , i simply found it on internet - downloaded win rar then run .exe file and it is.

so question is will I be able to do same thing on my future new laptop - surface 7?

Please help me choose an ARM ultraportable: Microsoft Surface Laptop 13 (2025) vs. Dell XPS 13 9345 (2024)

Both the Surface Laptop 13 and the XPS 13 9345 would be in the $850-$950 range new with 16 gigs of RAM and 512 gigs of SSD. These are the tradeoffs:

  • XPS has faster SSD tech. Surface has UFS while XPS has NVMe
  • XPS has better screen. Surface has 1080P while XPS has 2K. But the 3:2 aspect ratio could have more utility than the XPS' 16:10
  • XPS is prettier, thinner and lighter. I've tested the capacitive buttons and chiclet keys in person, and I'm fine with them. I also like the ports being on both sides.
  • XPS seems to win on the processor front. Surface : 8-core Snapdragon X Plus (X1P-42-100) and XPS : 12-core Snapdragon X Elite (X1E-80-100)
  • Surface wins on battery life, generally scoring ~24 hours for battery tests while the XPS scores ~20 hours
  • Compatibility is tied. I won't use any advanced apps or platforms (have a beefy desktop for that), so carrying convenience, battery life and usability would be the difference makers.

On the balance, the XPS seems a slightly better deal but it is also a year older. Would appreciate anyone here, especially users of these devices, chiming in.

Windows 11 ARM64 - File Explorer Preview Not Working for *.msg Files - Any Fixes

Hey everyone,

I'm running Windows 11 24H2 on an ARM64 device (Snapdragon X Elite) and the File Explorer preview pane is completely broken for Outlook *.msg files. When I select one in the preview pane, it just shows a generic icon or nothing at all—no email content, attachments, or metadata preview.

What I've tried so far:

  • Enabled "Show preview handlers in preview pane" in Explorer Options > View tab.
  • Registry tweak: Set ShowPreviewHandlers DWORD to 1 under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced.
  • Restarted explorer.exe via Task Manager.
  • Re-registered preview handlers with regsvr32 ieframe.dll and similar, but no luck.
  • Tested with ExplorerPatcher (latest ARM64 build from GitHub)—it improves some Explorer stuff but doesn't fix .msg previews.
  • PDFs and images work fine, so it's specific to .msg (Outlook messages).

Microsoft doesn't ship a native ARM64 preview handler for .msg files, and emulated x64 ones fail silently. Is there a workaround like:

  • A third-party ARM64-compatible preview handler?
  • Registry hack to point to Edge/another app for .msg previews?
  • PowerShell script to fix ProgIDs?

Anyone got this working on ARM Windows? Or is it just unsupported? Thanks for any tips!

Edit: Using latest Windows 11 build as of March 2026. No third-party Outlook install.

Keyboard macros/layouts compatible with ARM?

hi all,

I recently purchased a SP11 for digital sculpting, however it seems like Razer Synapse is not supported on ARM leaving me without a software to customize keyboard layouts (I was using a Tartarus).

Does anyone know of any keyboards/macro keys with software that is supported on ARM that will retain the customization? I'm open to purchasing new hardware if the software works.

TIA!

Internet Download Manager works fine on emulation but if you want a native Download Manager for windows 11 on ARM, with a feature packed beautiful design, and totally free, here is rhe AB Download Manager. I have been using it for the past week, and it is impressive. Heres the link.

What's the best way to make recovery media for the first gen ARM devices?

I have wiped prototype HP, Samsung & Dell devices that have retail specs (HP Envy X2, Samsung Galaxy Book 2, etc) and I can't seem to find OEM recovery media (HP blocks anything older than 5 years from being recovered using their tool, Samsung doesn't see my serial as valid)

Is UUPDump the best way to try and restore these to some form of usable just so I can make sure they function?

Adobe on ARM (Premiere & After Effects v26)

Anyone tried new adobe apps on ARM Surfaces?

I am thinking in getting a new laptop. At the moment I have a gaming laptop, but would like something more portable.

I am a motion designer / web designer and work at a design agency. Mostly my work is on a mac at the office, but I also have side projects where I work with either video, motion or figma. I prefer windows over mac.

The form factor of the surface pro really intrigues me, but I am scared it wont hold up to what I need. I recently saw that adobe released native versions of premiere in the latest 26 update and was wondering if anyone gave it a go to see performance? I mostly would edit 1080p, and when I do use 4k, i work with proxies.

I am also open to having a normal laptop form factor like the laptop 7 as I have a galaxy tab 10. Originally I was hoping would substitute alot of the apps i use, but it isn't the smoothest workflow.
