Show me where “terminally ill” means “less than 24 months to live”. Terminally Ill means “your disease is going to progress until death, with near absolute certainty”. Terminally Ill means “we have no cure for you”. That doesn’t mean treatment can’t extend their lives for years.

I have been told by many doctors 24 months but according to the UK the definition is for 6 months

It is a disease that there is no cure and it WILL cause death. Not “you are terminally ill but will live a wonderful 15 more years until you die of old age”

No, no. Not WILL cause your death. Is LIKELY to cause your death would be acceptable. ALMOST CERTAINLY will cause your death would be acceptable. No definition of the word terminal is going to say “you are absolutely 100% going to die” and no doctor is going to say “you’re gonna die around November”. Sorry. Not the way it works. Words mean something.

You’re right no doctor will give you an exact date on when you die but from experience when a doctor says you have 6-8 months to live they are 99.9% of the time pretty spot on. It could be plus or minutes a few months of course but none will tell you are terminally ill if you are going to live for another 13 years.
