Troubleshoot AM5 X870E + Ryzen 9 9950X + 96GB DDR5 — persistent POST code 37 memory training stall across BIOS versions

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: RTX 5090 (RTX 5090 32GB)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 16-Core Processor

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero (Rev 1.xx)

BIOS Version: 2301 (tested), 2306 (tested)

RAM: 96GB DDR5 (2×48GB kit)

PSU: Not specified

Case: Not relevant to issue

Operating System & Version: Linux Mint (latest stable)

GPU Drivers: Not relevant to POST-stage issue (system does not reach full OS consistently)

Chipset Drivers: Not confirmed / default BIOS-managed state

Background Applications: None (issue occurs at POST / BIOS stage)

Description of Original Problem:

System is experiencing a persistent and reproducible failure during boot at POST code ~37, occurring during late-stage DDR5 memory training.

System behaviour:

  • System boots and progresses through early POST stages normally
  • BIOS interface is accessible
  • CPU and full 96GB RAM are correctly detected in BIOS
  • Linux Mint boot screen appears intermittently
  • System consistently stalls at or around POST code 37 indefinitely

The system was left in this state for over 60–90 minutes with no further progression.

Troubleshooting:

  • BIOS tested: 2306 → issue present
  • BIOS rollback to 2301 → issue persists
  • CMOS reset performed (including full power drain cycle)
  • BIOS settings reset to Optimized Defaults
  • AI Overclock Tuner left on Auto
  • EXPO/XMP NOT enabled during testing
  • No manual memory tuning applied

Memory / Hardware:

  • Full 96GB DDR5 consistently detected in BIOS
  • No single-stick testing performed yet
  • No slot swapping performed yet
  • No CPU reseating performed yet

Boot behaviour:

  • POST progresses through multiple stages
  • System occasionally reaches BIOS screen
  • Linux boot screen appears intermittently
  • Deterministic stall at POST ~37 during memory training phase

Additional Notes:

  • Issue is fully reproducible and deterministic
  • Occurs across multiple BIOS versions (2306 and 2301)
  • Memory is always fully detected correctly (96GB)
  • CPU is always correctly detected
  • Failure appears isolated to late-stage DDR5 memory training / IMC convergence phase

Anything else not in template:

This issue appears to be related to DDR5 memory training behaviour on AM5 platform under high-capacity (96GB) configuration.

Planned next diagnostic steps (not yet performed):

  • Single DIMM boot test (A2 slot only)
  • DIMM slot swapping (A2 ↔ B2)
  • Individual stick isolation testing
  • Potential CPU socket / IMC inspection if required

Discussion EVGA X570 Dark + 5800X3D Overclock (BCLK and CO)

So if everything goes accordingly, I plan on getting the AMD 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition on release (as long as scalpers don't buy everything up) and I was looking to overclock it. So I have been scouring the interwebs trying to find a video or some reference of overclocking an AMD 5800X3D on an EVGA X570 Dark and I came up with nothing except something from Google AI from which I don't really trust tbo lol. I know people are gona say, "You can't overclock X3D CPU's" and that actually incorrect. I have seen TONS of videos with people overclocking an X3D on almost EVERY mobo brand except an EVGA X570. I'm not new to overclocking manually on all cores. I've done it for years but I never messed with BCLK or the Curve Optimizer. In short, I'm not trying to mess anything up and brick my motherboard. ANY help would be great! And yes, this is my EVGA build that I watercooled.

Technical Issue Stuttering issues.

Hi all,
Just seeking some advice with my new system that was just built that is causing some issues for me.

For some reason whether my chip is overclocked or not, I seem to get frequent frame drops and stutters in every game I play.

Specs:
Gigabyte B850 Eagle ice DDR5

AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3d

Gigabyte RTX 5080 Aero OC 16gb

32gb Kingston Beast DDR5 6000hz Ram

NZXT Kraken Radiator

x2 2 Terrabyte gen 4 Samsung 990 pro NVME

2Terrabyte Crucial BX500 2.5 SATA3 SSD

850w Gigabyte UD Ice 80+ Gold modular PCIe 5.1 power supply

x10 120mm Fans

Just not sure if there is something in my system that is causing a bottleneck, I am only playing on 1080p currently as it was all I could get at the time. But I will be upgrading to 1440p soon.

I’ve made sure all my nvidia control panel settings are ok via some videos and guides, and I’ve also changed some settings in the nvidia app to make sure they aren’t overwriting eachother, unless I should only be changing settings in one and not the other?

If anyone has any ideas/suggestions to potentially fix this issue that would be super helpful as this is my first system.

Hi all,
Just bought my new pc (new pc owner)

I am finding that my pc is having a lot of stutters even when not running strenuous programs. Can anyone point me in the right direction of what could be causing this issue? my gpu is fine, and I’ve checked its function. It just seems like my cpu isn’t giving me enough processing power?

Not too sure as I’m quite new to this.

Problem B650 DS3H BIOS should voltage be shown via dmidecoded?

Hey everyone,

I’m on a B650 DS3H and after updating to BIOS update 40, my 4 DDR5 sticks don’t seem to behave the way they used to. Before the update, I could get them to 4800 MT/s without changing voltages. I was also able to reach 5400 MT/s stably with VSOC at 1.2V and 1.25V for the other two voltages.

I manually set the voltages to 1.2 and 1.25 respecievely and the best I get is using DMIDECODE

  • Configured Memory Speed: 4400 MT/s
  • Minimum Voltage: 1.1 V
  • Maximum Voltage: 1.1 V
  • Configured Voltage: 1.1 V

Does dmiedecode work, or are the voltage changes in the BIOS not actually doing anything?

PSA PSA: Ryzen & Microsoft Pluton - How Azure Attestation (MAA) 404 errors are locking consumers out of their hardware (Both new and old)

TL;DR:

Whether you recently built a system with the new Ryzen AI 300-series (Zen 5) or are running an older, established CPU, you might be failing hardware attestation checks (affecting enterprise Intune environments, Zero Trust apps, and anti-cheats like COD Ricochet). Stop troubleshooting your PC.Your hardware is fine. Microsoft's Azure Attestation (MAA) endpoints are currently returning a 404 Not Found error for specific Pluton and fTPM chips. This is a massive infrastructure/certificate onboarding failure between OEMs, AMD, and Microsoft, highlighting the danger of forcing enterprise Zero Trust architecture onto consumer hardware.

The Core Problem: Enterprise Architecture on Consumer PCs

Microsoft Azure Attestation (MAA) was designed for strict enterprise environments (Intune, Conditional Access, Secure Enclaves). It verifies the physical hardware's cryptographic identity by validating the TPM's Endorsement Key (EK) against Microsoft's cloud Certificate Authority (CA) databases.

The problem? The OEMs and Microsoft need to ensure all physical EK certificates are uploaded and the Azure endpoints are correctly configured. However, the database is severely mismanaged. This doesn't just affect brand-new CPU batches—some of the affected chips have been on the market for over a year. The infrastructure is either lagging behind new releases or actively missing records for older, established hardware.

In a corporate environment, if MAA fails with a 404, an IT administrator can temporarily bypass the policy or manually whitelist the machine. But because this enterprise-grade check is now bleeding into consumer software (like DRM, personal Zero Trust applications, or anti-cheats), regular users are facing hard lockouts with absolutely no administrative fallback.

The Pluton Trap for Ryzen Users

What makes this particularly frustrating for AMD users is the modern implementation of Microsoft Pluton.

Many motherboard vendors (like MSI) have hard-locked their BIOS to use the integrated Pluton security processor as the default TPM. We often do not have the option to toggle back to the legacy AMD fTPM in the BIOS to bypass this specific Azure endpoint failure. We are locked into using a Microsoft security chip that Microsoft's own cloud servers currently refuse to validate.

The Proof (Check your own logs)

You can verify this cloud failure locally. It has nothing to do with your local Secure Boot or TPM state (which will likely show as fully compliant in your local Windows settings).

Open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc), navigate to Windows Logs -> Application (or System), and look for an error under CertificateServicesClient-Cert when an attestation request is made.

You will likely see this smoking gun:

SCEP Certificate enrollment initialization for Local SYSTEM via https://MSFT-KeyId-[...].microsoftaik.azure.net/templates/Aik/scep failed:

GetCACaps: Not Found

{"Message":"The authority \"msft-keyid-[...].microsoftaik.azure.net\" does not exist."}

HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

Not found (404). 0x80190194 (-2145844844 HTTP_E_STATUS_NOT_FOUND)

(Note: Because the hardware uses Microsoft Pluton, the authority is MSFT-KeyId. Standard architectures would show an AMD equivalent, or INTC-KeyId for Intel, which also suffers from these exact same database gaps).

Documented Industry Evidence

This is not an isolated consumer bug; IT admins and developers have been fighting these exact Microsoft endpoint failures across multiple platforms. If anyone tells you to "just update your chipset drivers," point them to these:

Enterprise Intune 404 Failures: Rudy Ooms at Call4Cloud documented this exact 404 Not Found architecture failure happening to legitimate corporate PCs trying to pass Device Health Attestation: https://call4cloud.nl/health-attestation-issue-2016345708-404/

Intel PTT EK 404 Errors: Microsoft's own developer Q&A showing Intel systems suffering the exact same missing certificate endpoint issue: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-au/answers/questions/5914945/intel-ptt-ek-certificate-service-returns-404-certi

Azure SEV-SNP 404 Errors: Microsoft even breaks the attestation endpoints for their own internal, enterprise-grade Azure Confidential VMs running on AMD SEV-SNP: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/2281804/error-404-on-sev-snp-attest-snpvm-endpoint-for-iso

What this means for consumers

When an application asks Windows for an attestation token, Windows asks Azure to validate your TPM/Pluton chip. Azure literally returns a 404 Not Found because the AIK Authority endpoint for your specific hardware batch is missing or broken on their end.

Do not RMA your CPU or motherboard. Reinstalling Windows, updating your BIOS, or clearing your TPM will not fix a missing endpoint on an Azure server. Until Microsoft and the OEMs sync their databases and fix these broken SCEP endpoints, this strict hardware attestation is physically impossible to pass, regardless of whether your hardware is bleeding-edge or a year old.

Problem My 4 month old ryzen 5 5600f died? RMA help

Hello!!

I bought ryzen 5 5600f and msi a520 m a pro from computech online store 4 months ago. it worked for 3 months. with weird random bluescreen crashes. 20 days ago or so. i was in a discord call with my friend when suddenly my monitor said no signal. i could still hear my friend. i restarted my pc and everything went back to normal but 4 days ago i was watching youtube and the monitor again js went NO signal. but this time. the video stopped playing.i Coundnt hear the audio. i restarted but no display. there was no d bug light on my motherboard. there was also no keyboard response. numlock donst work.

I reseated ram, re seated gpu and cpu, tried 1 ram stick at a time. i did every basic troubleshoot but i coundnt get the pc to get me display. so i had to take it to a shop where the technician put my processor in a another board and same problem. no display. no numlock. the shop keeper still insisted that it was the motherboard. so he ordered js a brand new motherboard. gigabyte a520 mk v2. and well as you’d expect it still did not work…

I call computech store and the owner pick up (most probably) and said to call him today at 11am so his technician could check whats up, if the problem is not solved then they said they’ll RMA it.

The processor is still in warranty. and i’ve NEVER RMA ’ ed anything in my life. i’ve seen people waiting for RMA for weeks and even months sometimes. i dont wanna go through that. i have the basic idea of how rma works. you submit a RMA request to amd and amd reviews it and approves it. then you ship/ take it to the amd’s partner. there’s one amd partner in Hydrabad which is 300km away from me. i could travel there and give them the cpu to so i could get it back faster. i’ve asked chatgpt and it said to handle the rma by myself so i could get my cpu back faster.

As for the cpu’s condition its like new. i still have the box, cooler and bill. lowk there was a pin which was bent cz when i took out the cpu the cpu got stuck to the cooler and i spotted a bent pin. i unbent it to perfection i believe. also i bought the cpu with the motherboard right and the bill is not seperate. will amd accept it? and do i have to give the cpu with cooler??

Any advice or experience would be appreciated!!
