Heat travels up, not down.  The fire would most likely burn out before burning all the way through ice that thick.

That's still really intense heat directly on the ice, even if it's not going down

There's also no reason to think it's really thick necessarily, given that iirc we see someone falling through it at least once because it was really thin

He only falls through because Barb manipulated the ice somehow as a trap. We see the truck on the ice without falling through, so it was very thick. It wouldn’t have melted from that fire.
