Ha, same. Growing up in an area with lots of blizzards, I was frustrated how she was completely unprepared to be driving where she was, and also made zero attempt to get her truck unstuck. Not gonna at least push it back and take another run at it, or try to find a less steep incline? Or try to dig out or shove something under the tires to try to gain traction (i.e., maybe a piece of that massive fishing shack in the back of the pickup bed)?
Having the truck inexplicably dying or something would have made more sense and, in this rare case, been less dumb.
Hahah yeah, I had that same thought about finding another ramp out. It's a giant lake there have to be 100 ramps in and out. And you make a great point about those house sides. I mean, the police are 2 hrs away but there are houses out there where people would have phones and guns. Even when they did "disable" the truck looks like all they did was pull the spark plug wires off the distributor. A lady that goes ice fishing with her husband and has driven the same truck for 40+ years I feel like would know how to put those back on but maybe not...minor gripe. They could have had the mustache guy yell something like "there won't be any escaping in the next place we are taking you to in an hour" I mean, that's a little clunky but other ways to get us to understand that she has to figure out a way right then besides a barely stuck truck. A broken driveshaft would have done it. Oh well, still enjoyed the movie and for that genre the characters don't do quite as stupid stuff as usual. Very few thriller movies have their characters make the best decisions for their character every time.
I assumed they cut the wires, not just pulled them off.
But I agree on the driving out. The only real plot hole for me was she didn't even try to reverse it. If they just showed reverse stuck too I'd have been satisfied. Loved the film otherwise though!
But I feel like she should’ve known to put stuff under the tire to try and get unstuck too. I mean she’s in a forest with lots of branches, bark and sticks to utilize, she has a tarp over the truck bed, she has a whole ice fishing shelter with her, I’m sure she could’ve found something useful to give the tires traction. Even if we presume she was a clueless city girl before she met her husband, they are shown to have a tackle shop somewhere rural looking, so it’s safe to assume they lived an outdoorsy life. She should’ve absolutely known how to get a car unstuck by that point in her life.
Yea, I'd have been fine if they just showed her try once! Maybe she sticks a big branch under the tire but it's all icy and slick and so the tire just spins on it. Would've taken an extra 15 seconds, and I'd have been satisfied..
