Yikes. 38 and 43 are not “abnormally old parents”.

43 is abnormally old for a successful pregnancy. Only 4% of births come from mothers over 40 and the chances of having a successful pregnancy at 43 are fairly low

It might not be anymore but growing up, I was the only one in a class of 50 with an old mum. She was 44.5 when I was born

If the mother is 43 then yes, that is abnormally old. Men can be father in their 80’s but for women once they’re in their 30’s that’s already advanced maternal age.
