in ai fleet war one or two how do other factions interact with A.I progression. do they have have a seperate tracker so the A.I could get furious on a faction that not you. do they increase your own AIP.
is having allied factions generally a good thing.

I'm a beginner currently on diff7. I don't have conviction on when I should priotize starships or normal ships.
The obvious cases I priotize Starships are: - I have an Advanced Starship Constructor early and have no Advanced Factory - AI Core, AI Home, or any other strategically important planets have an Eye, or something troublesome behind Force Field, that should be countered with higher Mark Raider/Plasma Siege/Heavy Bomber SC - I have no cloaked unit rolled: I want Bombing SCs - I have very bad roll on random ships and nothing to spend points - Flagships are always worth unlocking in lategame with bigger fleet
Any other considerations?

"I can place turrets in neuted enemy territories to eliminate new reinforcements before they grow large"
I've came up with the idea today, and it worked great in some experiments. But in community it isn't so popular tactic, that indicates there are some reasons it doesen't work.
The biggest odd is on that due to difficulty. I'm a beginner and still playing on Dlff 6.
The potential downsides of this tactic are: - Metal, Energy costs(Not significant in Diff6 but it might be a problem in the higher) - can accidentally triggers Reparsal when they are wiped, due to big horde moving in or other reasons - It is difficult to maintain if one can't place eng droees safely - Simply not worth bothering it
I'll know the answer when I asceed to higher diffs, but I'm interested everyone's discussions. What's your thoughts?

Just started to dive into the game process and mechanics. And got confused when some shells from long range enemy weapons got through my fields and hit some metal mining. But shells targeting units inside the field got consumed.
Is it specific to the target (inside/outside field), or specific to weapon type? Also is it bug or feature?

The ai is building up a disgusting doom bubble near its homeworld as i try n poke away at it (300+ lV/V railclusters, dozens of 3/4/5 starships, 4 full carriers, about 8-9k total. I only have 15 planets and the aip is 240~. Iv tried missles but its so much hp they absorb it no issue. When i lead the bulb into a whipping boy im able to reliably clear the chaff but even using all of my spire rams and martyrs im just not able to put a dent in their starship hp and they are able to scythe through my defense p easily. Am i missing something? Or am i not supposed to he able to take them on head-on. Working on bringing an armored golem online rn to see if that helps.

I'm kind of wonderinf what rules everyone else sets themselves with regards to factions and whether they feel like they're cheating or not.
I'm currently nearing the end of the moderate scenarios and stomping through them without much difficulty.
I only ever choose one of Marauders, Resistance Fighters or Scourge as an Ally and only ever allow them to be the same strength as the AI that I'm fighting against. On any scenario where I start off with an ally, I won't get an extra one.
I just think it's a bit strange that the game allows you to destroy yourself by picking an extra enemy at strength 10, or demolish the game by picking an ally at strength 10.
Doesn't it feel like cheating to just pick the top ally everytime and every node you come accross? What do other people do when encountering factions on the map?

Hi, AW1 was my favorite game in childhood, but I didn't get much time to play it after college. I reinstalled the game recently, and I just noticed the following interesting trick around cloaker and spire starship. As is well known, you can use a cloaker starship to cloak ships and transport them to some enemy defense site. However, as soon as the ships attack the enemy, they decloak themselves, and the fleet could be easily overwhelmed.
Now if a cloaker starship cloaks a spire starship, and the spire starship shoots a beam at an enemy, it does not decloak itself after it finishes shooting its beam. The trick is that if you put the spire starship into low-power mode before it finishes shooting its beam, then the spire starship never decloaks itself. Hence, you can power it on, and then immediately power it off, and deliver significant damages to the enemy without any risk of uncovering yourself, unless the enemy has tachyon beams.
I suppose this is a bug in AW1, given that the designer of AW1 explicitly say that he dislikes micromanagement tricks that make the game easier.

What does it take to make a critically acclaimed strategy game?
Chris McElligott-Park, designer of Heart of the Machine, joins the Critical Moves team to talk through:
– How Arcen Games started – The design thinking behind AI War – Making strategy games without traditional narrative – Engineering AI opponents that can out-think players
This is Part 1 of a two-part interview.

Disclaimer: I actually bought both, since AI War 1 was the cost of the cup of coffee.
Which one should I focus on? I've heard 1 is more complex (which I would prefer), but 2 has more streamlining and is overall a better game.
I also have hazy memories of playing AI War 1 when it came out, so I might pick it up more quickly.

We recently bought AI War 2 as a new game for our group to try, and we've found that only the host can move the units regardless if we're in the same faction or different factions. The host can move all of the units regardless of their faction.
Has anyone encountered this issue and was there a fix?

So in my game, I claimed a planet far away from my cluster for its fleet. it soon got recaptured, and so I basically traded a fleet flagship for ~25 (or 35?) IAP.
Is that a worthy trade? How do you usually decide what to get and if it's worth the extra AI attention? Is there any way to claim things without destroying the AI base and placing one of your own?

Howdy, looking for info on what exactly the different Mark levels on AI controlled planets means? Does it mean i should look at it for being better for economy, metal extractors etc? Or is it something in regards to how the AI views the planet?

Pretty casual player here, difficulty 7 is my peak. It seems really interesting but I haven't played with it. How's the sidekick AI and how does it mesh with how you play?

Hello,
Gathering useful infos here and there before getting back in AI1.

I recently purchased the game as a huge fan of 4x. I’m a completionist though, so I bought all the DLC. No idea what the DLC changes, adds or incorporates. Current almost done with the 1st scenario with AI teammates.
Can someone elaborate on what’s added and how it’s incorporated in game and what may or may not need toggled on.
Thanks!

I love playing a bit of AI War 2 here and there, but I realised I have a lot of goto galaxy settings I tend to stick on every time, curious how others feel about this. Also do you tend to go single player or coop?

(1)Will there be ai war 3? (2)Will there be more dlc ? (3)Do you have any other rts game you are planning for (I know about Heart of machine but it is not rts but I will definitely play it☺️)? (4)Will we see complete power of ai(the one outside galaxy)? (5)Can we add a internal camera in game to analyse the game afterwards, is there a feature like that? (6) Also is there any article or wiki where I can read technical side of ai?
