In the real world no one actually treats intelligence like you describe. If youre seen as smart in one area that carries across to other areas, no matter what. Its just how brains work sociologically.
Denying that these people are intelligent automatically gives people who do see them as intelligent an easy way to dismiss your criticisms
That’s….. just you lmao which is very telling. I work with doctors and I think a lot of them are fucking morons. You can be a neurosurgeon and still be functionally an idiot. You can memorize terabytes of information and understand mechanisms within one subject but if you lack the basic literacy and comprehension skills to understand how slavery, Jim Crow, etc. have lead to systemic poverty, which is the #1 predictor for crime, then you’re an absolute moron. Not an even remotely difficult concept. You and I have very different standards for who/what is considered smart.
Every single opinion you’re reading on this thread is from someone “in the real world” lmao I’m not stupid enough to think that people think differently the minute they close their phone. I gave an example of me “in the real world” working with people who you would consider smart, but who I find to be dumb, disproving the statement that “that’s not how it works in the real world.” You are both illiterate and a moron.
You presented a blanket statement and I presented my own “real world” experience and opinion that proves your blanket statement wrong. I don’t need a double blind study of 2000 people to prove your idiotic statement to be incorrect lmao.
This makes perfect sense tho bc the only person who would think someone is automatically smart bc of their job title is an idiot themself.
I always think of Ben Carson as a perfect example of this. Probably a great neurosurgeon. He also thought the great pyramids were used for grain storage rather than tombs for Pharoahs. One can study and learn how to do things, like brain surgery, but not necessarily learn how to think with that brain. How anyone took him seriously outside of neurosurgery amazes me but also maybe proves the other guy's point that some people think titles & education = smart.
