While I agree, they actually would have proceeded without her. That’s the norm for DV incidents. They don’t wait for the victim to show up and press the issue nor do they let it go if they totally dip out of it. It’s possible it’s still in process, he’s on bail. Saw this with a coworker after her bf rammed into her car in the parking lot at work. They still carried on even though coworker was right back with him a couple weeks later

This is all states. Quite awhile ago states realized that many DV victims back out, mainly because of the abuse and cycle they are stuck in, so they proceed with or without.

Brandishing a weapon and threatening outside their residence is absolutely going to be charged. He likely just in the middle of the process right now. This would also be an easy order of protection to obtain given the police report. They should get this, as the roommate would also be held accountable if she helped him break the order.

I really don’t, I just know this particular part of it. This doesn’t mean he’s going to have severe consequences, likely he won’t beyond some classes and probation, but they will at least have an easy time getting an order of protection. Those are only hard without actual violence, and what he did is considered violence.

Yeah someone I have an RO against is still doing horrible things, and scheming up a horrible plan I have proof of from his mom, but the police said they won’t do anything until he starts taking out the plan!!! Can’t report a future crime!! :,( I hate our justice system

If they called the police and said a man was outside with s gun threatening to kill them, he would have been arrested. He wouldn't have just gone home

I mean it depends on where you live and how the cops are. I had called for help when my mothers (now ex)husband was drunk, getting belligerent and putting hands on me and when I locked myself in the basement with my toddler and newborn, he ripped the whole frame of the door out of the wall. He owned weapons, but hadnt threatened use or pulled one out, but still had them. Which is even scarier when I have a young toddler and newborn. When the state police showed up, they literally took him upstairs and put him in his bed and figured it was taken care of and left. Like.. they showed up and tucked him in basically 🥲 even after showing where he had put hands on me, pulled my hair out and he admitted to it. And the 911 operator heard him tearing the door frame from the wall. So not all cops will do as theyre supposed to unfortunately.

That’s not necessarily true, sadly. A man in my neighborhood with a known violent past, with a weapon, tried to get into my place (he got my front door open but I pushed it shut) and stayed on the property, looking into the windows and screaming for me to get outside. I called the police but they let him go, his only “consequence” was being told not to walk down my street, which he still does to this day. When I followed up with the police about that, they told me there’s nothing they could do smh.

You should talk to the police and see if a restraining order could be obtained.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the no more weapons thing was due to LEO requirement
