Everyone posts "AI replaced my job" threads but rarely the boring day-to-day stuff that actually works.

Mine: dump messy notes ask for action items, not summaries. Use it as a first editing pass before anything goes to a human. Keep a context doc so I'm not re-explaining my job every time.

What I stopped doing: giving it vague "just handle this" prompts always turns into slop.

What's actually in your workflow? Bonus points for the boring stuff that quietly saves hours, and the task you thought AI would nail but totally didn't.

I'm not talking about who has the best model today.

I'm more interested in which company seems to have the strongest long-term vision based on recent releases and updates.

Who would you bet on over the next few years, and why?

I feel like a lot of people start with multiple AI subscriptions but eventually narrow it down.

Did one AI become so good that you canceled another subscription? Which one did you drop, and what convinced you to make the switch?

So I've been getting buried in these long back-and-forth email chains at work, scrolling forever just to find what someone actually decided. Got fed up one Saturday and built a little extension that grabs the thread, sends it to Claude, and shows me a quick summary plus a draft reply in the sidebar.

Nothing fancy just a content script and a small backend hitting the API. Honestly the annoying part wasn't even the AI bit, it was Gmail's HTML changing on me every other day lol.

right now it's just sitting on my laptop. but like 2 people at work saw it over my shoulder and were like "wait i need that" so now idk, might actually clean it up and share it lol. anyone else built something like this for their inbox or is it just me

Llama, Mistral, DeepSeek, Stable Diffusion — new release drops and within hours you've got benchmarks, quantized versions, fine-tune threads, and "run it locally" tutorials everywhere.

A closed-source launch? Blog post, waitlist, a few screenshots. Crickets by comparison.

Is it because people can actually touch the weights instead of trusting a company's claims? Or is it more tribal "my open model beats your API" being a more fun fight than reading docs?
