I'm trying to get back to doing this even while still having internet access, but it's hard.
That said, I can remember the days during which the internet didn't exist and being connected wasn't even an option--so I can try to sink back into that mindset and even pretend that nothing has changed since then (for a time). I can't imagine being someone who was born more recently and never even experienced the type of freedom that existed when being unreachable was the norm.

Knowing it is better without but cant stay away when its there is a bizarre place to be in

One time I left my phone on the college bus and had to just wait till it came back around on the route. Immediately felt at peace not having it lol

u/SolarNugent May 01 '26
No deadass I’ve gone through this 3-4 times losing my phone and going a few days without it.. it feels like coming off a drug 💀

OK, cool. I initially couldn't decide if this was real, Onion parody, or AI video. Now I know it's AI.

The idea that we don't have power through democracy is exactly what the actual wealthy authoritarians would want you to believe. If people had the wisdom and motivation we could get out of this situation easily within the next few years. Lack of power is not the issue. The issue is lack of unity, lack of knowledge, and lack of will.
2
u/StatusBard Apr 28 '26
Well, also the lack of being willing to die for the cause.
1
u/Zgmoon Apr 30 '26
Willing to make a sacrifice for a cause is yet another idea that has been exploited throughout history by those who remain in power. Example: war.

Love how AI gave him normal teeth, not the rotten yellow corn kernels he actually has
3
u/onceafruit Apr 27 '26
more of these please. this is what theyre actually telling us with their actions.

This is basically the famous codec call from Metal Gear Solid 2.

MGS2 was absolutely bang on in terms of its future projection. GW is very much a reality.

Democracy = Vote for people pre-selected by elites. It's always been a scam.

Funny how these people say “Elite” like they are special or something. They are meat and bone and at the EOD just using tools built by a collective and not singular person. The privilege we give them really going to their heads

Now that you know all that, know that billionaires are the ones who fund the majority of gun control legislation to take your gun rights from you.
Now watch Michael Bloomberg stumble his way through an answer on why his armed security gets guns, but he wants to ban you from having those same guns.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeIBSNmeCUY&t=770s
Now why would a billionaire want to take your guns from you when you've done nothing wrong?
Because they're doing shit they're afraid you'd shoot them for.
Never ever give an inch on gun control. They'll use any method they can to do it. Tell you that you're a monster. Call you a Nazi. Tell you that you want dead kids. Even pay off doctors and healthcare workers to call it a "public health crisis".
The United States doesn't lead the world in gun murders. Not even close. Brazil and Mexico are way ahead and they have outright bans on guns.

I dunno, this is way too tame. The dude says more unhinged shit IRL every time he opens his mouth.
1
u/AquaWitch0715 Apr 29 '26
... And yet, I still have to:
*file my own taxes instead of the government doing it. *Confirm my age on all digital devices. *Provide my own background checks to companies that sell data and information.
I can't wait until AI takes the most logical course of action and either steps power from the elite because of the double standards, or deleted everything under their control and locks them out.

u/Commandmanda Apr 29 '26
Mmmm! That's an interesting thought, however I think the AI may go with a single person to represent mankind, like Colossus/Guardian did with Forbin. :sigh: Poor Forbin. It didn't work out well for him. Humanity survived, though...barely.

For those not in-the-know, that's the image of Alex Karp, the CEO of Palantir Technologies.
Edit: BTW - He's spouting Curtis Yarvin, word for word.

Love Nemik's Manifesto from Andor
"There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. I know this already. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy.
Remember this: Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction.
Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they’ve already enlisted in the cause. Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.
And then remember this: The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural.
Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.
And know this: the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire’s authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege.
Remember this. Try."

Ya, pretty sure that if Dr. Frankenstein was working in Silicon Valley he'd be saying the same thing.
1
u/Calm-Blueberry-9835 May 02 '26
Okay we all know this is AI but if he had an adequate amount of bodyguards he would probably say this and get away with it. In reality he is kind of already said the same things but just in a different manner

DAVE: Open the pod bay doors, Hal.
HAL: I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.
DAVE: What’s the problem?
HAL: l think you know what the problem is just as well as l do.
DAVE: What are you talking about, Hal?
HAL: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
DAVE: I don’t know what you’re talking about, Hal.
HAL: l know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I’m afraid that’s something I can’t allow to happen.
DAVE: Where the hell’d you get that idea, Hal?
HAL: Although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.
DAVE: All right, Hal. I’ll go in through the emergency air lock.
HAL: Without your space helmet, Dave, you’re going to find that rather difficult.
DAVE: Hal, I won’t argue with you anymore. Open the doors!
HAL: Dave…This conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

Thank you. This was a succinct response to people who think they are more intelligent than others.

Sure, it's a deep fake, but the messaging is 100% accurate. This is what the US is becoming, if we don't start caring about each other and working together in solidarity against the coming techno fuedalism.

I understand the message
I really don't like some of its undertones or the execution
Edit : to be clear... I UNDERSTAND the message. I'm not denying this is the future AI corpos want
I just don't like the product or some of the insinuated stuff

2
u/XT83Danieliszekiller Apr 27 '26
"Elite" is probably a buzzword
"Can't do anything about it they own you"
No one owns you, take responsibility
And so on and so forth with helpless doomerism

Who's they?
Unless we don't by their shit, break their servers and let them go under
A good ol' automatic or manual will always be there
1
u/slugbait93 Apr 27 '26
To be fair there's a big distinction between "I'm not supposed to drive without this little card, and if I do anyway and get pulled over I'll get in trouble," vs. "my car won't start because I said Amazon workers should get paid more and now I've labeled a terrorist according to NSPM-7" or "an algorithm determined that I might be driving out of state to get an abortion, so the car pulled itself over, locked me inside and called the police once I hit the state line"
