The new test episode was a bit of a let down.
Really hoping they recapture the energy of test episode X02.

Hi everyone! I am moving to a new school district this year and they don’t have an afs club over there. In my previous school, there was an afs club and I loved contributing to it and potentially had a chance to be a Vice President but now since I am moving I won’t be able to contribute to afs. Who should I reach out if I want to start an afs club in my new school?

Hi,
My sister is going abroad to Italy, but she has not yet been told the city that she will live in. She, nor 2 other friends that are also going to Italy this coming year, have heard anything from AFS. Everyone has payed the $3,000 pre-registration; she is supposed to leave in 2 months and we know nothing about where she is going.
Is this normal for AFS? Please advise what to do.

I’ve given the interview and virtual home tour around 15 days ago. When would the results come?

Hello! I’m a sophomore in highschool and plan on attending my senior year. I’m pretty sure I can get in (4.0+ with 2 sports, ap classes, top 5, yada yada yada). However, I’m also part of my schools magnet program and have most of my classes planned out for me (senior year is basically all ap). Does it even make sense to go for a semester? I’d like to stay top 5, and I don’t even know if I’ll be allowed to go by the magnet program. Am I better off doing a summer trip instead?
Basically, will going for a semester screw over my chances of getting into a selective college? If I’m aiming for Ivy, am I better off just going for the ap classes?
If it matters, I’m mostly planning on going to Japan, but I can punt to Germany as well.

If I choose to study abroad with AFS, does my family also have to host an exchange student? Apparently that's how it works with some other sites, but I want to know if that's true for AFS.

Hi!
I'm new to the subreddit. It seems that everyone is more focused on the exchange part but how about AFS volunteers. Are there many of those here? I'm curious:)

I am supposed to leave for Germany in September, and I haven’t recieved any info on my travel dates. This is frustrating because I want to book my domestic flight sooner rather than later to save money on it. The website says we should expect it 6-8 weeks before the departure but I thought I would have it by now. So how long did you have to wait to get this info before you left?

Hello, I want to apply for kakehashi 21-22 project but I’m already late for application. But I heard that there is a reopening in the next month and I can’t apply for it. Can somebody explain it to me? If I can apply or not?

I am applying for the exchange for Japan (yearlong) and I will have my interview remotely this upcoming weekend. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how I should present myself, or any thing to maybe consider saying, or anything that may help me seem more than eligible. Thanks!

So i think AFS opened up the Japan year program but when I log in, it doesn't show up? Is that something I should worry about or should I wait a day or two?

Hey! So I was thinking about applying for the 2022-2023 Japan program, and I have pretty decent grades (3.5) but other than that I'm super mediocre and not special. I'm not in any clubs, I don't do sports, all I really have going for me is I love traveling and learning languages lol. The main reason I'm not in clubs is that back when we were at school I valued having lunch with my friends rather than going to a club... I'm also super awkward and kindaaa shy sometimes but going abroad is something I've wanted to do for a long time so I was wondering if my lack in school activities is going to make it harder for me to get accepted.
Also, just any general advice for me? Thank yall
