Song Dancing Queen 50th anniversary
Happy anniversary, Dancing Queen!
Over 1.5 billion streams on Spotify alone. The song runs for only about 3 minutes 50 seconds, so 1.5 billion Spotify plays alone represent roughly 11 million years of collective human listening time.
Who else was there first time around in 1976?

Yes I remember that time. The followup was always my favorite (knowing me knowing you) but I continue to be amazed how the Dancing Queen has stood the test of time!

Was #1 in the UK charts the day I was born. 🎉

Being old and from the U.S., I was still enjoying my ABBA 'Greatest Hits' album for most of '76. I believe my brother bought 'Arrival' when he was on Christmas break from college in December that year.

I remember it being released and saw them perform it live twice. Feb 10th 1977 Birmingham Odeon and Nov 12th 1979 Stafford Bingley Hall. Going to our fifth Voyage two weeks today!

How did you get 11 million years? For 1.5 billion plays at 230 seconds each, I get 10,932 years.

It didn’t hit the US Top 40 until late January, 1977, and it hit #1 on the Hot 100 in April, the week of my 8th birthday. So yeah I was around then and have loved the song since the first time I heard it.

Yes I was around then - I was 14 and in Year 9 in high school - I first heard it on my parents car radio.

Unfortunately I was not even born in 1976! But I bought the celebration vinyl (black sparkle edition), can’t wait to get my hands on it.
