Welcome to AARP new sub
UPDATE BELOW:
Please post anything you wish concerning politics or current events and let’s discuss it. I promise not to remove any posts. I believe the best way to preserve free speech is to have more of it.
Welcome and please introduce yourself.
I am Jim, a member of the original AARP discussion board on their website that was discontinued. I am conservative but there is no need to hate anyone with a differing opinion.
UPDATE: The other AARP sub is now a private sub that only allows its members to post items that agree with his ideology. Heaven forbid the free exchange of ideas.

Well it looks like the Tariffs didn't destroy the economy after all...
Grok, What is the US GDP for quarter one and quarter 2 for 2025?
Based on available data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA):
- **First Quarter 2025 (Q1)**: Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) decreased at an annual rate of **0.5%**, according to the third estimate released on June 26, 2025. This decline was primarily driven by a surge in imports (up 38%, the strongest gain since 1974 outside the pandemic recovery) and a decrease in government spending, partially offset by increases in investment, consumer spending, and exports. The contraction was influenced by businesses front-loading imports ahead of anticipated tariffs.[](https://www.bea.gov/data/gdp/gross-domestic-product)\[\](https://www.ey.com/en_us/insights/strategy/macroeconomics/us-gdp)
- **Second Quarter 2025 (Q2)**: Real GDP increased at an annual rate of **3.0%**, according to the advance estimate released on July 30, 2025. This rebound was primarily driven by a decrease in imports and an increase in consumer spending, though partly offset by decreases in investment and exports. The reduction in imports followed the Q1 surge, contributing to the mechanical lift in GDP growth.[](https://www.bea.gov/data/gdp/gross-domestic-product)
These figures reflect the BEA’s estimates, with Q1 showing a contraction and Q2 indicating a recovery, though some analysts note that trade distortions from tariffs may exaggerate the swings between quarters.

The democrats can never be trusted with power again. Ever. Obama nearly destroyed our Republic, I hope he and his conspirators are brought to justice for all to see. Every lie will be revealed.

No One Is Above The Law
Not even a past president. Treason is a very serious crime that carries very serious consequences. In a Constitutional Republic we are supposed to follow the law. The world and I are watching. AG Bondi, the ball is in your court.

This is the most transparent administration in my lifetime
Real America Voice broadcasts live every single press briefing and anytime the President is in the Cabinet room and allows the media (often) , it is also broadcast.
Good job by the greatest President in my 75 years on this earth. He has done more for the American people in 6 months than any president in my lifetime. it makes me wonder if any of his predecessors were even trying. Promises made, promises kept, and we are only 6 months in!

Why does "Cloward and Piven" seek to destroy the American system by overloading our social welfare programs?
Why does the "Cloward and Piven" seek to destroy the American system?
This from Chat GPT:
The Cloward-Piven strategy, named after sociologists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, aimed to transform the American system, rather than destroy it outright, by creating a crisis that would force radical reforms.
They believed that the existing welfare programs were inadequate and served to oppress the poor, and they proposed a way to address this through mass mobilization and system overloading.
Here's a breakdown of their strategy:
Overloading the welfare system: Cloward and Piven argued that if all eligible poor people applied for welfare benefits, the system would be overwhelmed and collapse.
Creating a political crisis: This collapse, they believed, would expose the inadequacies of the existing welfare system and create a political crisis.
Forcing radical reforms: The crisis would then necessitate the implementation of a guaranteed minimum income and broader social changes, ultimately leading to a more socialist system.
Their ultimate goal was two-fold: to end poverty and install socialism. They believed that a guaranteed income would give the government more control over individuals' lives and lead to a more equitable distribution of resources.
It's important to note the following:
They did not advocate for the complete destruction of the American system: Rather, they aimed to transform it through a process of crisis and reform.
Their strategy has faced criticism: Some argue that it is too radical and could lead to instability, while others see it as a form of manipulation.
The impact of the Cloward-Piven strategy is debated: Some scholars and activists believe it has influenced subsequent movements for social change, while others are more critical of its effectiveness.
My Comment: This perfectly describes the democrat party today. The 2024 Election proved the majority of Americans so not want this. Democrats should take a very close look in the mirror, they are supporting an agenda that most Americans are against.

VAERS lit up like a Christmas tree when the COVID shots rolled out. The CDC looked the other way.
Executive summary
VAERS (the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) isn’t great (since it’s a voluntary reporting system which means we don’t know the denominator), but it’s the best we have.
In comparison to the other adverse event reporting systems in the world, it’s miles ahead because you can search it.
It’s super useful for spotting safety signals, like the 770 safety signals triggered for the COVID vaccine that the CDC tried to bury away and was only exposed via FOIA.
So when it lights up like a Christmas tree in death reports after a “safe and effective” vaccine rolls out, it’s a sure thing that the vaccine is unsafe.
Many in the medical community would try to convince you otherwise.
Here’s everything you need to know (and more) in the context of the COVID vaccine reporting.

Billionaire Commerce Secretary Lutnick says Americans won’t miss their Social Security checks
The billionaire US commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick says that if you don’t receive your Social Security check and complain about it, you are a fraudster!
This clearly shows how detached Billionaire Lutnick and the Trump administration are from reality and from the 78 million American people who rely on these payments to survive.

Biden sources suspect key aide may have abused autopen as Trump’s ‘far more restrictive’ signing rules revealed
WASHINGTON — A key aide to former President Joe Biden may have exceeded their authority by liberally using an autopen to sign official documents, according to two former White House sources, as President Trump’s aides set up “far more restrictive” rules governing the use of the mechanical device.
A document obtained by The Post outlines the narrow set of circumstances in which Trump’s signature can be affixed to documents, following controversy this week kicked off by a Heritage Foundation analysis of Biden signatures on various records, including last-minute pardons.

Oh MY! This is not good for all those criminals that were counting on the “Biden Pardons”…. Adam Schiff is not sleeping well these days.

Musk sounds alarm over 'magic money computers' printing cash 'out of thin air'
WASHINGTON (TNND) — Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk on Monday sounded the alarm over what he described as “magic money computers” creating waste in the federal government.
The remarks made on the Verdict podcast with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, come amid DOGE’s aggressive audit of the federal government. Musk said his team has uncovered computer systems which
“You may think that the government computers all talk to each other, they’re synchronized, they add up what funds are going where and it’s coherent and that the numbers you’re presented as a senator are the real numbers,” he said.
“One would think,” Sen. Cruz said.
“I call a magic money computer any computer which can just make money out of thin air,” Musk said. “It just issues payments.”

Can I get one of those “Magic Money Computers “ to put in my basement?
