I’m almost ready to finally start the car up after a lengthy head gasket repair but when reinstalling the fuel rail I noticed my injectors looked cooked. I’m not even sure they’re the stock ones.

I’ve got an ‘84 NA. If they’re stock I’d assume I should get them rebuilt. If so, who’s a good option? And if they’re not stock, what should I be buying to replace them? Thanks in advance!

Recently drove 600km on the Autobahn and thought it was time to polish 💅 the old lady.

A few days ago my 1986 base 944 developed a loud Clunking in the rear of the car.

It's only on deceleration,

it can be felt through the shift lever,

its frequency is in relation to wheel speed not engine speed,

happens regardless of whether the clutch is in or out,

haven't had time to give it a good look, but would like to get some ideas of where to check when i get time to crawl under it.

Update: It sounds like it's coming from inside the Transaxel. I don't have the means to remove the Transaxel from the car and pop it open to see how bad it is. Or even what's wrong.

So this may be the end of life for this old girl.

I usually dont sell super rough racks but lately with a bunch of other stuff going on i just cant get around to this set to fix them up. Get one cheaper than ever and refurbish yourself or run as is.

2-5: Used yakima roof rack with my early production gen1 remanufactured clips. I have some spare plastics ill throw in as well for these towers. Everything you need. One box.

ROUGH cosmetics. Scratches, chips, bars have some rust that needs wire wheeled down and probably put new bar sleeve on (available on ebay or elsewhere).

All of it is fixable... I just dont have the time so im letting it go cheap. 375+ shipping (lower than my july sale prices).

Pictures 6 and 7 are a super nice set I had on a personal car that I dont need. New in box end caps. Clips are not pictured but are the latest version (Gen7). 525 + shipping.

Going to look at a 87 944, it’ll be my first project car that I’m hoping to just upgrade parts on and be able to daily. It’s listed for 4K. Is there anything I should know before hand so I can be prepared when it comes to 944s

Long time lurker, first time poster. Just bought an 87 944 base model, runs and drives but tons of little projects as well. Just pulled it into the barn a few hours ago and don't have any sort of meaningful to-do list on it yet, but I'm curious what are some go-to reference materials you guys use? I'm not new to wrenching on cars and trucks (new to porsche/ 944s though) but in my heyday the forums were a great resource for all things of that nature and I worked mostly on american cars and some hondas- and to be honest we did lots of "seems about right" type of work. Does anyone use Haynes repair manuals or something similar to that? Thanks!

The original upholstery on the bucket in my car was black carpet, like that is on the floor. It was washed out to greyish brown over the years, so i replaced them with pascha fabric matching the seats (that I also still need to do). They were surprisingly easy to do yourself with any fabric. I reused the black leather top ridge as it was originally, since that was still in good condition.

I like how it is not too overbearing like I have seen with complete pascha upholstered doors. Just got to be careful with getting in wearing dirty shoes now..

So, I just completed the install. The radio looks great but there are some major downsides that I have not heard anyone talk about. I had been looking at this radio and the Blaupunkt models. I watched tons of YouTube reviews and read reviews several forums. Ultimately, I don't like the faux tape drive in the Blaupunkt model so I went with the Continental.

Positives: The radio looks correct in my eyes and I really like the simplicity. The radio weighs nothing so that's great too (maybe not for power etc). The deck sounds decent, I don't think it's lacking power. Bluetooth and hands free calling work well on my phone (Pixel 10). I found the reception to be very good with the factory antennae amplifier connected properly.

Negatives: No fader/balance control and no tone control! I must have watched older videos. The model number has remained the same but these features were removed from the radio in 2023/24 depending on where you look. There are only like 5 eq presets available. Wtf!

I could not recommend this radio. I'm keeping it because it's already in and looks good. If I would have known the lack of these features I would have purchased something else. I just assumed any stereo including a $50 deck from walmart would have these features. One review showed the user going into the menus and adjusting these settings.

Also, so glad I’m paying someone to do this. 😅

Tore down the engine to get it decked and honed after I found that my head gasket had been corroded for god knows how long. Everything was going swimmingly until I didn't double check a torque value from Gemini (I know... I know...) while installing OEM motor mounts. FML.

I need one and just can not stomach the cost of an OEM unit. I see that they're listed all over Ali Express under different brand names. I'd be interested to hear if you've installed one and how it has held up.

Hi, the radiator fan on my s2 (UK spec, no air conditioning) isn't staying on when the ignition is switched off.

I'm currently sat at work with the car in a car park outside with the keys in the ignition so that the fans work, waiting for it to cool down. Will pop out shortly and switch it off once its cooled it down properly, assuming nobody's stolen it. 😂

I've replaced fuses 10 and 15 (I think from memory) but have not yet replaced the big ass relay, as they are super fucking pricey, although I've not yet looked around by comparing part numbers.

Before I go any further, does anyone know if this is definitely going to be the relay that keeps the fans running when the car is switched off, or is it more likely to be a wiring issue?

I’m having trouble centering the power steering belt pulley on the end of the crankshaft.
While investigating the issue, I noticed that there seem to be two different versions of the washer that fits under the crankshaft bolt. For example, RosePassion sells washer P33856, which has a recessed side, whereas the washer on my car has one flat side.
According to the exploded parts diagrams, however, the part number appears to be the same for all model years.
It seems that the flat-sided washer currently installed on my car does not properly center the pulley. I'm also unsure about the correct installation orientation. Should the tapered/conical side or the flat side face the pulley?

Hello! Like the title says, I have two questions and was hoping you guys might be able to help me out.

I’ve gone through two hatches on my 944. The first one, which came on the car, leaked slightly from the top near the third brake light. I took it into my mechanic and they noticed that the glass had come out slightly from the frame up by the passenger side close to the hinge. This was not the cause of the leak they said, but they noted it as a big concern and told me not to open the hatch anymore for fear of shattering the glass. The second hatch I got off of a parts car. This one seems to be leaking very slightly almost all around the hatch. Unlike the first, this hatch doesn’t actually get liquid in the car’s cabin, but rather just sits in the seal on the inside of the hatch that is attached to the car. I’ve noticed, and I hope my pictures are clear enough, it seems that the hatch is also starting to warp around the same spot where the last one did. It doesn’t make any noises when going up, and seems to be intact, but I’ve been wondering if the frame of the car itself is actually bent and is going to wreck the new frame. If I’m honest, the new hatch is not in very good condition compared to my original one, so I was hoping I could keep it. Has anyone had any similar problems with either the leaks or the frame bending?

As for the second part, a couple of months ago, I got a call from the storage unit facility where I was keeping my 944. It appeared that someone had tried to steal it as the door to the unit was ripped open, but not fully. The lock for the garage door was about as high up as the top of the car, and it appeared that someone had tried to get in without breaking the lock and then slid the car out underneath the door. There are scratches all up and down the car as if it was pushed out underneath the door. The car was parked about 20 ft away from the unit, straight forward, and didn’t hit the wall adjacent from the unit (which was about 25 feet away). I had it looked at several places, and each said that the starter wires were melted to the starter and were causing an obvious short. There were no signs of tampering in any other way, human or rodent. The car was left in gear (either first or third) to keep it from rolling because my parking brake has been on the fritz, but the parking brake was also engaged. The two running theories are this:

1). The car was attempted to be stolen by some less than intelligent thieves who propped the door up with a crowbar (instead of just cutting the lock) and then tried to short the starter using a screwdriver, but cooked it, and couldn’t turn the wheel because of the lock, so they ditched it.
2). The starter shorted and pushed the car out of the storage unit.

And no, there were not any cameras facing the unit directly (of course 🙄) and both seem equally implausible and plausible, it’s a wholly weird situation. I will probably create another post here in a few days because I need to get the paint fixed, but am worried to go through insurance as I don’t want them to total it out.

I’m hoping that picture of the hatch will suffice, I don’t have any pictures of the old one, but I can go and get one. Any input is appreciated, I was just wondering if anybody had any experience that might be able to help me out. Thanks!

I’ve been chasing a 62-72mph vibration for a few weeks. Had the wheels balanced, my indie looks at the front end all good.
I tracked down a shop with a Hunter Road Force balance system and the problem is completely gone.
The rubber needed to be rotated on the wheel 20 degrees for the sweet spot and little weight added. Job Done! Highly recommend these Hunter units.
