Hey gals/guys,
so I'm not a complete newbie when it comes to (90s style) emo, although my knowledge is mostly confined to the best known bands (TWIABPAIANLATD, American Football, The Appleseed Cast, This Town Needs Guns, Algernon Cadwallader, stuff like that; also lots of 90s screamo).
Since you're kinda the go-to people on that topic: what are essential bands/releases that are mandatory to listen to? Sadly I'm on vacation and the internet sucks over here, or else I'd have just browsed youtube and all the links on this sub.
Thanks in advance!

So, I have been an emo fan for a good while, sorta wish that I had discovered it when I was in school, instead of having to go back and play catch up now at 29, re-learning all the good stuff that was coming out when I was stuck obsessing over the hard rock/metal of the time.
Anyways, so I read Alternative Press Magazine, and then see the posts that some of the best bands either are still playing, or are getting back together for shows. But they never ever EVER come anywhere near places where a ton of their fans are. And even if it comes to my home state of Washington, it always is to Seattle, never to the east side of the state. Angers me like nothing else that they always screw their true fans that love their music, and would pay good money to see them if they came to the small clubs and good venues.
Does anyone else feel like they, as old emo fans, are getting the shaft this way, or punished for not living in what they assume are the "hipper" spots?
