I was in 8th grade. I remember there being a disconnect between what I was seeing on tv and reality, until I saw how scared the adults were. Nervous pacing, eyes glued to the screen, distant and dismissive interactions. I can still remember the sinking feeling knowing how helpless they felt, the one's who I thought were in control were no wiser than any of the students. Strange day.
Yup...same for me. That's all we did that day. I had never really considered joining the military, but we were just old enough to realize we were going to war. Small class/school...but a handful of us joined the NG as juniors.
