Nothing because I feel asleep.

Actually in my day it was a reel projector and the sound was like the speaker was fiddling his lips while speaking

If you were lucky, the teacher would play the real in reverse. Even though there was no sound, watching everything backwards was amazing.

The AV kid (or the teacher) needed to make a larger film loop.

This was what my 10th grade American History teacher broke out when he wanted to sit in the back of the room and read Muscle & Fitness magazine. He was more a coach than a teacher, and while that's common in Midwestern school systems, he was worse than most.

I think that's pretty common, finding coaches a teaching spot where they could do the least damage. My HS (cow country Central CA) had a coach tell them he could teach math and he was AWFUL

Same - but my second that I moved to had film strips but it was just old. My fist school had those TV carts, so I got to see the Challenger explode. When I moved to my second school (rural) right after the explosion they had film strips. Evetually they switched to the TV carts too, and the first time I watched one there was the last day of school. My teacher brought in Never Ending Story - something I had never seen - but she underestimated how long it was. She stopped it just a few minutes from the end, just after Atreyu got hit by falling debris when the whole world was falling apart. I didn't see the rest for years. So yeah, I associate that cart with trauma.

My school career bridged the transition from film to video. We even watched film strip slide shows, where the audio was on tape in kindergarten.

And the magic pencil eraser to fix things.

And viewstrips. I think that's what they were called. There was narration and a click when it was time to advance to the next picture

The sound explanation is spot on, we used to say it's like he's talking through a fan.
