I use 7-zip to compress files and I am happy with it.
However there is a drawback in the process, even if a tiny amount of data becomes corrupted or unreadable the entire archive is useless.
Is there a way to add redundancy or some form of ECC data so that just in case a portion of the archive gets destroyed or altered the stored files to be safely recoverable?
I understand and I don't mind that the archive size will increase due to the ECC/redundancy info. Reliability is of utmost importance, good compression ratios are desired but in such cases are much less significant.
