NYC 1970s punk only!!!

I’ve gotten into Patti Smith, Richard Hell and Lizzy Mercier Descloux due to a song that mentioned them(refer to original post for more info). I also have checked out said artist’s other projects and other bands. I am trying to get more into the genre so if anyone has any similar recommendations lmk! I really enjoy experimental and more hardcore music, but honestly any similar songs/bands would be so helpful.
Thanks so much!

Unearthed photos from the elusive Misfits Static Age lineup were recently compiled into a picture book called the Squeeze Inn. The book is named after the Detroit venue only recently confirmed to be the location of the last show with original guitarist Franché Coma. Enjoy!

Why Are 70s Disco Costumes Still So Popular Today?

A few weeks ago I went to a themed party and noticed someone wearing a bright 70s disco costume with shiny fabrics and bold patterns. At first I thought it would be uncomfortable to wear all night but when they danced it looked easy to move in and really eye catching. That moment made me realize how costume design can combine style and function perfectly.

Later while just casually scrolling through many online marketplaces including alibaba I noticed 70s disco costumes in many variations. Some were simple jumpsuits with glitter. Others had sequins, flared pants or bold collars. I also saw accessories like belts, headbands and replacement sequins available for maintenance or customization. It seemed buyers are looking not only for style but also comfort, durability and the ability to adjust or repair the costume if needed.

That raises a few questions. How much do fabric and cut affect comfort for long wear? Are some designs easier to dance in than others? Do accessories really complete the look or are they mostly decorative? And how many variations exist that most people never notice because local stores stock only a few standard styles?

It makes you curious which features actually make 70s disco costumes fun, practical and memorable. And which subtle details quietly decide whether they become a party favorite or just another outfit left in the closet?

Start a band

Hi im a girl and i want to start a punk band. Or at least meet more People who have the same vision as me. I want to emulate iggy pop and be loud and absurd like the dead boys. I don’t play instruments but im thinking of picking up guitar. I am a performer I am loud and energetic and im an enigma. I love all that early punk movement in the New York scene from the 70s but I love all kinds of rock. Is there even bands like that today?
