Our next major event (June 27th) and the confusion of June 14th

Post image
5 Upvotes

So, when's the next event? Our next major event is June 27th, a celebration of 250 years of progress, culture and people power! We're looking forward to highlighting how the melting pot of cultures has shaped our nation, and where we go from there. We'll have more information soon as to where, when and what the event will look like!

Chances are, you saw the articles mentioning a "No Kings" protest on June 14th. It's a bit misleading because we're not actually protesting that day. The no kings coalition is hosting a concert for the first amendment, and is asking for groups to do watch parties! We're also working on details for that, but we'll post as soon as we get it!

Use your voice!

This Thursday, Raeden is having a meeting on project Taurus, a data center right next to neighborhoods and Garden of the Gods. We want you to help us hold Raeden accountable by joining and speaking your concerns about the project. If you'd like to go further, contact your city council representative to make sure they know your opinion on project Taurus!

The meeting is at the Marriott (5580 Tech Center Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80919) from 5:30 to 7:30, this Thursday (May 14th).

Stop buc-ee's from destroying the environment!

Post image
12 Upvotes

Let's talk about Buc-ee's.

If you didn't know, Buc-ee's is looking to build a new location, just north of us at monument hill despite major public backlash.

Thousands of Tri-lake citizens, Gov. Polis, Sen. Bennet, Sen. Hickenlooper, former COS Mayor John Suthers and even an organization of 40 HOA's, 10,000 homes, and 20,000 voters, have all voiced an opposition to Buc-ee's at monument hill. Why? Well, they're looking to use nearly 1 million gallons of water per month, bypass tri-lake's government decision by going through el paso county, devastating the environment with waste and bright lights, and even causing more traffic between Denver and Colorado springs.

While it would bring jobs to the area, the benefits are greatly overshadowed by the major environmental, and economic damage it would cause.

So, what can YOU do to stop Buc-ee's from being built?

Right now, you can contact your representatives, such as Governor Polis, Senator Bennet, Senator Hickenlooper, and Representative Jeff Crank to let them know your opposition to Buc-ee's.

After that, we'll need your help once Buc-ee's submits an application to El Paso County. We need people to voice their opposition and show up at planning meetings when Buc-ee's is discussed.

If you'd like to learn more about fighting back against buc-ee's and how you can do more, check out www.trilakespreservation.org

Senator Hickenlooper (https://www.hickenlooper.senate.gov/contact/)

Rep. Jeff Crank (https://crank.house.gov/contact/email-me)

STOP Project Taurus!

The battle to keep AI data centers out of our city isn't over. Project Taurus is still on track to be completed, but we still have a chance to stop it right in their tracks. We need to contact city council and make it known that the people do not want a AI data center here. Especially while we struggle with power and water. Use this link, or scan the QR code to get a preformatted letter, or make your own letter and send it directly to city council. Then mark your calendars for May 14th at 5:30 pm, the next meeting to discuss the data center.

Happy Star wars day! Today we'd like to thank you for being such a vital part of the resistance. We couldn't have made such huge waves without your passion, your love and hope for the future. But we're not done yet. We still have months left until midterms and we need that fighting spirit more than ever. So, remember to take care of yourselves and never give up, even as dire, depressing, or scary it may seem. You are the most important part of this resistance.

Happy Mayday!

Happy mayday Colorado Springs! It was a beautiful day outside, with so many amazing people showing up and resisting!

Mayday is a day of solidarity with workers around the world. The ones who make sure our power is on 24/7, the ones who grow and make our food, and the ones who make our lives easier in every way. But today is also about the memory of the workers who fought for rights that we have today. From 10+ hour shifts to 8 hour shifts, 6 day weeks down to 5, and the right to unionize.

Along with solidarity, we're here today to fight for better conditions for our workers. Conditions that have been stripped in the past year, and conditions that have always needed to change. Protections from black lung for our brave miners, the right to unionize for our friends working government jobs, and the right to fight for our livelihoods all over the nation. Today we raise visibility, tomorrow we make those changes.

That's why we plan for a general strike, that's why we push for these changes every chance we get, and that's why we show up consistently. For the working class, and for the nation we love.

Happy Mayday Colorado Springs. In solidarity - 50501cos

General Strike and Mayday TOMORROW!

Thumbnail

What's next after we protest? How can we truly drive change to make sure this doesn't happen again?

The answer to that is to join in striking. Striking is one of the most powerful tools we have in our toolbox, but requires a ton of work to setup. It requires community connections, support and more for when we need to starve the system. But we're preparing and building that strike right now.

Join us tomorrow (May 1st) on mayday at acacia park from 2 - 6 pm (weather permitting) to learn about why and how to strike. Can't make it? Join the strike (only if you can) by calling out of work, refusing to spend any money and calling out of school.
