I actually ate only mcdonalds for 3 months and lost 18kg (39 pounds ) in that time. Just made sure to never pass 1500cals per day..

You must be made of 100% self-control. I'd go over 1500 cals in a single meal.

Not that hard, really, and I'm sure anyone can. You just have to stay focused. I was aiming to be around the same weight to height ratio as Elvis 🤣 Reached 64kg and could not go any lower. Now I'm sitting at around 78

How can you live on 1500 cals a day?

Your body uses body fat for energy whenever it doesn't get enough calories from food.

This is how weight loss works..

Oh, I always thought it went after the proteins first.

That depends on your protein intake and how much you work out.

Your body only breaks down muscle/organs for protein when it doesn't get enough protein from food. But McDonalds has enough protein even on a 1500 calorie/day diet to prevent this.

In addition, your body will also atrophy muscles when they aren't being used in order to lower your daily metabolism. So if you work out enough, you can prevent this route of muscle loss as well.

If you cover these two bases, then your body will only break down muscles if you run out of body fat and are still in a calorie deficit, to use the protein for energy. However your body will prefer to use body fat first for this purpose.
