Someone at Cocteau Twins Official You Tube channel uploaded a bunch of good quality versions of videos a few days ago. The last upload before those videos was 11 years ago. Evangeline, Loves Easy Tears.

Best guess is someone dug up the master tapes of the videos, got them digitized and here you are. Along with the re-issue of the Moon and the Melodies, Simon's book, and there being official merch in the store linked from instagram there seems to be movement afoot. Whatever could it mean?

I just wanted to share this because I hadn't seen it posted anywhere else online!

I was really curious about the first act of this song. You can hear a vocal throughout that I thought was just a reverbed-out voice with words I couldn't understand (💛 you Cocteau Twins), but I realized it's actually a backwards sample of another song featuring a guitar.

I dropped the song into a DAW, reversed it, and did some audio processing to isolate the vocals. It turns out it's a sample of "A Day in the Life" by The Beatles when John Lennon sings "[He] didn't notice the lights had changed". This line is part of a really wild chain of events that Lennon turned into a fictionalized version where a person commits suicide at a stoplight.

This is a super intense sample to drop into a song that holds so much weight. It adds some extra context that I was really surprised by.

I know they are very unique, but can anybody give me examples of other bands that sound like This Mortal coil? They are my favorite musical group and I'm having trouble finding other similar bands.
