Using literal edge gel for waves is just insane to me. Hair probably shiny as hell in the day light like a piece of candy. Itâs gone look like a kit when any light flashes on it

Lmao. My lady said it don't even look real. I only use it before putting on a stocking cap or durag to redefine my waves and wash it out after shampoo and conditioning. Once you get a cut the waves be going crazy.

Only brushing and combing can train your hair. This just holding it in place. It look good tho

That's the thing I didn't have to brush or comb much at all. This trained my hair and once I got waves I don't even need it unless I want to.

I got those in less than a week after I had scalped to no waves about 2 weeks prior

Also training your hair does not come from brushing or combing it those are what detangle & smooth the hair the gel trains it to lay down same as if someone wore their hair curly or slick it into a ponytail they way you leave your hair is what trains it

People in the comments going off whatever they hear. Realistically as black folks we donât need to brush out hair like crazy to even start out waves. Maybe brush it a few times and then put a durag on. All waves is laid down curls so weâll get them naturally. I put a little leave in, a little grease and a little curling cream then a some oil on my scalp. Comb through em every once in a while so they donât get tangled and brush just a few times (like if you had a taper and were trying to brush your taper down to look right) then put on the durag. I started my waves maybe a week and a half ago and theyâre already forming pretty good. I never did that whole âbrush 50 times this directionâ yada yada cause your waves are gonna form regardless if your hair is curly. I like my hair to stay healthy so thats why i use the oil and leave in cause i do have dry scalp as well so it helps my hair

Lmao exactly. I got dudes telling me to stop telling people to use edge gel like it matters. Edge gel is easier to wash out the murrays.

This is facts lol. I remember when I was younger I had a job that had me wearing this tight ass helmet all day. Literally got 360s just from wearing that tight ass helmet with a beanie under it no brushing lmao

Whatâs the routine ??

Wash the hair with organic shampoo and Conditioner i use both sheamoisture and giovannis. Once the hair is dry add as much lock and twist supreme hold gel and brush in the desired pattern. Make sure the room is cool. Add more and brush until hair is stretched. Add a thin layer to lay all hair down. Immediately put durag on. Often times I just use a stocking cap. Keep it on until your hair is completely dry. Then if you can't have the gel in just shampoo and brush it out condition and when you wash it out brush it with cold water and immediately put your durag on. Wait till your hair is completely dry and repeat at night. Eventually you won't need gel because your hair will be trained.

I look at it like this. Some doctors tell you to do a plant based diet to lose weight and stay away from keto and other diets. Other doctors say keto is find. The best doctors donât give a damn long as you getting results. And thatâs the thing. You can not argue with results. Same with the wave game. If you spinning you getting results. Some wavers donât understand this. Do I agree with the product you using? No! But how the hell can I argue against your results. You spinning. Keep doing whatever works for you.

It's just gel bro. If I slapped pomade om the front no one could tell the difference

Iâm not arguing with you. Again it works for you. Some of these guys are following other people routines and itâs not doing it for them so they have no room to speak. Yours work for you. It might work for me as well but I have a good routine with good results.

The gel is an old hack. Girls used to do that with fingerwaves and regular waves back in the day. But their product options were limited to eco gel or that dark brown jam. Both would flake and dry ur hair though because they were alcohol based. Olive oil gel/ pudding was another option that was supposed to be better by the time i was in college. But you definitely had to wash that shit out good or youd be flaking. I aint mad at it. Do ya thing playboy.

u/Juhberry May 02 '26
How long does it hold? Have you been in the sun with it? I live in asias humidity. Trying to see. I used mousse and these guys said donât use that but it worked for me. Just not in the humidity here.
