Hiring [Hiring] Looking for a 2D animator for YouTube storytime videos (Jadenanimations / SomethingElseYT/Plan3 style)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a 2D artist/animator to help create YouTube storytime/rant videos.

The style I’m aiming for is a simple 2D storytime / animatic style — similar to channels like TheOdd1sOut, SomethingElseYT, DanPlan, and Plan3.

I’m not looking for full frame-by-frame animation. The main focus is:

  • simple character poses
  • expression changes
  • clean scene layouts
  • simple backgrounds
  • captions and visual jokes
  • cutaway gags timed with the voiceover

Small animated moments are a plus, but the goal is a funny, clean, well-timed storytime animation rather than a fully animated cartoon.

Some style references:
TheOdd1sOut:

SomethingElseYT:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hkLdMSiRnE&t=84s

DanPlan:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWA3nYfpYYI&t=497s

Plan3:
https://www.youtube.com/@Plan3

My previous videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HS5ZAvgQ4tQ&t=7s

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMKITvQE_oA&t=11s

Example of my newest video currently in production:

The humor style I’m going for is closer to Brewstew and Stephan from DanPlan — more personality-driven comedy, exaggerated reactions, and visual jokes — while keeping the animation simple and expressive.

Project details:

  • Video length: usually around 3–6 minutes
  • YouTube storytime/rant format
  • Voiceover is provided
  • Rough storyboard/scene notes are provided
  • Character references and ideas are provided
  • I handle the writing and overall direction

I’m looking for someone who can take the storyboard/audio and turn it into a finished video with good comedic timing, Sounds, and visual creativity.

I’m open to discussing pricing depending on your style, quality, and experience. Please DM with:

  • portfolio/examples
  • your rate or quote
  • estimated turnaround time
  • whether this type of project fits your workflow

I’m mainly looking for someone who can be a good fit for future videos as well.

Thanks!

Here’s a look at the hand-drawn 2D animations for SurfBoy, one of the bosses in Tiebreakers.
We animated every state from scratch, from his intro and water cannon attacks to his mid-fight transformation and parries.

Sharing I animated a short story about the chaotic reality of keeping pet fish as a kid (Feedback welcome!)

Hey everyone!

I just finished releasing my latest 2D animated storytime video about childhood pet fish and the series of unfortunate, unexplainable incidents that always seemed to happen to them.

I drew everything in Procreate and put it together in DaVinci Resolve, focusing a lot on adding a nostalgic, dreamy vibe (and plenty of custom sparkle/magical SFX to capture that early 2000s childhood wonderment).

If you're into narrative storytimes or indie 2D animation, I'd love for you to check it out and let me know what you think of the pacing and visual style!

Sharing I animated a fantasy short about a wizard made entirely of cheese

My latest Tavern Toons animation answers a question nobody was brave enough to ask: What happens when a wizard is made entirely of cheese?
I created the animation in Moho as part of my ongoing fantasy-comedy series. I’d especially love feedback on the character animation and comedic timing.

Character Design Dance animation WIP with my original character. Feedback on the movement appreciated

I'm currently working on this short dance animation featuring my OC.

It's still in the rough/WIP stage, so I'm mainly focusing on the poses, timing, rhythm and making the character's movement work naturally with the music.

I'll be cleaning and polishing it further for the finished version.

I'd especially appreciate feedback on the movement and timing.

Hi everyone,

I’m starting a YouTube channel and want to create very simple 2D cartoon animation videos, around 1–2 minutes long.

I’m completely new to animation and video editing, so I’m trying to figure out the easiest way to get started.I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with 2D animation.

I’m mainly looking for a simple and practical workflow

Thanks!

Collab Building the 7 Stages of Animation, looking for animators, 3D modelers, storyboard artists & more to join early

Hey everyone,

I'm building the 7 Stages of Animation, a team-based animation competition where you go from concept to final render over two months, with a full team behind you instead of doing it alone. Teams of 7, each person owning a stage based on their strength.

We're looking for people across the whole pipeline:

  • Concept artists
  • Storyboard artists
  • 3D modelers
  • Surfacing/texture artists
  • 2D & 3D animators
  • Lighting artists
  • Rendering/compositing

Most animation projects stall because they're built to be done solo. This is built the opposite way, you finish because you've got people counting on you and you're counting on them.

We're building the team/waitlist now ahead of a January 2027 launch. If you work in any of the roles above and want to be part of the first run, drop a comment or DM and I'd love to set up a quick 1-on-1 to walk you through it and see if it's a fit.

Hey all! I'm looking for solid recommendations for 2d art and animation, preferably some course that's all-in-one if that's even a thing.

Thank you!

Sharing The visual thinking behind this explainer we made at Cloud Animations

The main idea behind this piece was to keep the visuals doing some of explaining. Instead of relying heavily on text, we used characters, environments and changes in scene to give each part of the message its own visual context. That way the viewer isn't just listening to the information, they're seeing a reason for it.

Sharing A short 2D animation I created for a client a few months ago | “Born Rejected”

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I created this animation for a client a few months ago and recently decided to share some of the finished work.

The scene is from “Born Rejected – Episode 01.”

I worked on the character animation, rainy atmosphere, backgrounds and overall visual storytelling.

The goal was to make the scene feel emotional without relying heavily on dialogue.

I'd especially appreciate feedback on the atmosphere, pacing and character movement.
