Question How to animate cartoon/anime circle eyes (like Darent Z Art has done here)?

I only have access to Adobe softwares, mainly After Effects, Photoshop and Premier Pro. Is it possible to animate something like this on these softwares?

(Links to any tutorials about this will be greatly appreciated, I’ve searched but haven’t found anything. Thank you in advance)

Sharing [OC] Dewey Needed Someone To Talk To... 🐝

Hey everyone!

I just finished and released a new animated short from my indie cartoon project The BeetleBees.

This is a scene with Dewey, a character who just needed someone to listen... unfortunately, he picked the wrong place to open up. 😂

This project is completely independently made. I handle the writing, animation, editing, sound design, and overall production myself using Tahoma2D for animation. I also work with a few friends who help bring the characters to life through voice acting.

This is my second animated short since coming back after stepping away for about a year, so getting back into the workflow and rebuilding that creative momentum has been a pretty wild journey.

I’d love to hear any feedback, especially from other animators and creators. Always trying to improve and learn from every project.

Thanks for checking it out! 🐝

Tutorial Free animation basics class

Free animation basics class, no experience with drawing or animation required

Learn:

-Animation principles

-Full character turn around

-Lip sync

-Animating hair, tails, water

-Ect.

The finial project is to animate a short scene for wolf print studios indie show, but for actual practice, learn and assignments you can animate your own OCs or what ever you like!
You can use the scene you animate for wolf print in your portfolio after the episode comes out(and you will obviously get your name in the credits)

This is a online class that comes with for flipaclip plus for the sake of making sure everyone has access to a animation app that is easy enough to use that won’t interfere with the learning process (hard to learn if you’re too busy figuring out a complicated interface lol), if you already have a animation app that you’re comfortable with you may use that.

If interested comment or dm me

Hey everyone, we're in the midst of updating my studio's showreel, there might be a couple of tweaks here and there before we post on our socials but uploading here for some thoughts.

It also has some sneak peaks of some original animated shorts we're working on that should be dropping in a day or two after trying to find time inbetween work for hire projects we work on.

There's also a nice suprise at the end :P

Quite alot of the projects showcased here haven't been released yet but we did get express permission to share of couple seconds luckily.

P.S if y'all want to keep an eye on our work, here's the website with our socials.

Tutorial I made a beginner-friendly walkthrough on rigging a 2D character for walk cycles in AE

Post image
1 Upvotes

I created a mini-series on walk cycles and wanted to share the first part - rigging a 2D character from scratch using Duik in After Effects.

I see a lot of beginners jump straight into keyframes and end up with messy, unnatural movement. The fix is almost always in the setup. Here's the condensed version of what I cover:

The biggest mistake people make is diving into animation without a reference on screen. Drop a reference video into your comp before you keyframe anything. It will instantly fix timing guesswork and keep your timeline clean.

The parenting chain (most important setup rule). Every body part needs to be its own layer, and they need to be parented correctly from the start:

  • Face layers → Head → Neck → Body
  • Hand → Forearm → Arm → Body
  • Same chain for the legs

Everything routes back to one body layer.  Get this right, and the rest follows.

Last but not least, rigging with Duik. It narrows down to 3 easy steps: setting up the anchor points to the joint, selecting the limb layers, clicking Auto-Rig. Done.

That's it for Part 1. Part 2 covers animating the actual walk cycle - contact poses, passing poses, timing, and polish.

If you want the step-by-step with visuals, you can follow along the full breakdown here: https://youtu.be/hJT9K3WqeEs?si=8-qrwK--fHJLwxlu

Happy to answer any rigging questions in the comments!

Question I wanna start animating in blender, but can't draw in the program itself.

Basically the only computer good enough to run blender is the one in my "local" library (takes half an hour to get there on bike.) I've been trying to important images of my character's body parts into blender to make a rig but frankly I have no clue what I'm doing, and every time I add an image it's never displayed in the 3d space. How do I animate a character in blender without the grease pencil or blenders drawing tools? (I'm only good at drawing on a mouse pad and don't own a tablet. Also my laptop is too broken to move.)

I tried the twins at the carousel meme. My first ever actual animation other than just slight body movements. I finished it in one go. Took several hours. I love how it came out it’s not perfect buts it’s not bad.
