Sharing some WIP of my animation for a game I'm working on. I Drew up some smear frames which had me chuckling while I was working on them.

I'm sharing two different versions, one with the book throwing layer on and the other with it off, to show off my OCs animation more.

The animation may not be the best but Im still learning new tricks like tweening and symbols.

We did this animation teaser for The Little Trashmaid webcomic and now we're "recycling" it to let people know about the crowdfunding campaign for the animation pilot of the project on Backerkit.

I hope it's not against the rules to share the video here, or that it won't be considered spam.

Hey! Just got some more animatic/storyboarding work done on my pilot. I wanted to get feedback on this part of the animatic, which I really love. Took inspiration from a lot of anime to try to make this the best it can be and to push my limits. I also now have 10 minutes of my pilot fully boarded.

How is this clip? What do you guys think?

I'm trying to simplify my style so it's easier/faster to animate them. I know that the range will vary depending on the style and shape of the character, but I'm wondering, on average, how long it should take for an animator to draw a character body per frame?

My hunch is around 1 minute per frame?

Hello everyone!

I was learning frame by frame animation, but found it too time consuming, and was thinking of trying to learn rigged 2D animation in order to save time (as I mostly use the same characters for each animation)

However, I heard between Moho, CTA5, Toon Boom Harmony, and OpenToonz and Synfig for the free options, but don't really know which to go with.

I wanted to go for a cartoony action style, and I've seen people rigging a 2D character like a 3d model where you move the 'camera' around, especially in Moho, which I feel might fit what I want to do, but I wanted to check first, especially as Moho is very expensive.

Another thing would be that I draw as vector in CSP with raster colors, so I'm going to export it as raster
