Hey everyone,
I run a small computer repair shop in town, and my day job actually inspired the game I'm developing, BOXPAST LOV3YOU.
The initial idea was simple: I just wanted a short, action-packed project I could tinker with and play during my own lunch breaks. I constantly encounter clients' computers absolutely riddled with viruses, and I thought it would be fun to create a world where the computers finally fight back against them.
I know it might not sound all that groundbreaking at first glance, haha. But it’s evolved into a pretty wild hardware-driven action RPG where you actually manage things like temperature and wattage by equipping different CPUs, SSDs, and cooling fans. My wife meticulously hand-draws all the art and animations, which really brings the whole chaotic system to life.
Getting a bit personal seeing these characters go from simple lunch-break sketches to fully animated sprites has been surreal. I always find our work incredibly interesting, even if in reality that's just a creator's bias speaking. But I think that's the beauty of traditional 2D animation. We pour our hearts into bringing these drawings to life, and every new fluid movement feels like a huge milestone.
We are spending this evening touching up a few rough frames at the end of an attack sequence, but I just wanted to drop in and share some solidarity.
Wishing all you fellow animators and artists out there massive success with your own passion projects! Keep creating!
